SSC Exams – Everything to know about CGL, CHSL, CPO, JE, MTS, Stenographer

The SSC exam, which stands for staff selection commission, is an essential organization under the government of India that takes care of the requirements aspect for different posts for various ministers, departments, and offices.  Today we will see in-depth details of all staff selection commission exams, including the SSC CGL, CHSL, CPO, JE, MTS, and stenographer exams.

Before we get into the details of each, you need to be a

  2. A subject of Nepal
  3. A subject of Bhutan
  4. A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st of January, 1962, to permanently settle in India
  5. A person of Indian Origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, the East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam to settle in India permanently.

Suppose the candidate falls into the 2,3,4,5. In that case, the person must have a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India to be eligible to appear for government job exams in our country.

SSC CGL:

The SSC CGL (staff selection commission combined graduate level exam) is a combined graduated level examination conducted by the staff selection commission to recruit candidates for various posts in top ministries, departments, and organizations of the government of India.

Let’s look at the selection process, eligibility criteria, and important posts one can apply for when one clears SSC CGL.

Selection Process:

The SSC CHSL is held in four tiers:

  1. Tier-1 is taken in multiple slots via computer mode, with objective-type questions.
  2. Tier-2 has two papers, quantitative aptitude and English, of 200 marks.
  3. Tier-3 is a descriptive exam designed to test for written skills in Hindi/English.
  4. Tier-4 is typing test /computer proficiency test and is only for assistant audit officers.

Eligibility Criteria:

Educational Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any subject with 60% marks in mathematics in 12th standard or
  • Bachelor’s degree in any subject with statistics as one of the core subjects.

Age Limit:

  • The age limit for different posts is different, but the range is a minimum of 18 and a maximum of 32 years.

1. Can I give CGL after the 12th?

You can’t apply for the SSC CGL exam after completing the 12th. This is because the staff selection commission conducts various other exams for which you are eligible, but not for CGL. But to apply for the SSC CGL Exam, you must have a graduation degree with any stream.

2. What score in the SSC CGL exam is needed for the best post?

The staff selection commission conducts the central police organization exam.

The SSC CPO exam is conducted to recruit candidates for various posts under the central police force, like sub-inspector in Delhi police: Central Armed police forces and assistant sub-inspector in the central industrial security force.

Selection Process:

The SSC CPO exam is conducted in four stages-

  1. Paper I: which is of 2 hours duration and consists of General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, English Comprehension
  2. Physical Endurance Test: Once you qualify for the paper I, there is an endurance test for male and female candidates, which consists of running 100 meters, long jump, high jump, etc.
  3. Paper II: which is again a 2 hours test and is for English language & Comprehension.
  4. Medical Examination: All the candidates who qualify in Paper II will be medically examined by the Medical Officer of the CAPFs or any other Medical Officer. The candidate must not have knock knee, flat foot, varicose vein or squint in eyes, and they should possess high colour vision. In addition, they must be mentally and physically healthy and free from physical defects.

3. What are the height criteria for clearing SSC CPO?

The height requirement for the male and female candidates in the general category is 170 cm and 157 cm, respectively. For SC/ST category, it is 162.5 and 154 for males and females, respectively.

However, if the candidate belongs to the hill areas of Kumaon, Garhwal, Himachal Pradesh, Dogras, Gorkhas, Marathas, Leh & Ladakh regions of J&K, Kashmir Valley, North-Eastern States and Sikkim, the height requirement changes to 165 for male and 155 for females.

4. Is SSC CPO SI (sub-inspector) a good job?

SSC JE:

  • Candidates must have passed the 12th standard or intermediate exam to appear for the SSC CHSL Exam from a recognized board or university.

Age limit:

  • Candidates interested in the SSC Junior Engineer exam should be at least 18 and not over 32 years old.

Selection Process:

SSC MTS Paper I:

  • It is an objective type online mode examination consisting of 100 questions.
  • It consists of four sections General Awareness, General Reasoning and intelligence, English, and Numerical Aptitude.

Selection Process:

The SSC CHSL is held in two tiers:

  • Computer-Based Test CBT Exam: Consist of general awareness (50 Marks), general intelligence & reasoning (50 Marks), and English language (100 Marks). One mark is awarded for each correct answer, and 0.25 marks are dedicated for every wrong answer.
  • Skill Test: All those candidates who clear the computer-based exam must appear for the skill test in stenography. The skill test is conducted to test the speed of candidates. Candidates are given a dictation in English or Hindi for 10 minutes. Candidates aiming to qualify for this test, A must type the dictation at the speed of 100 words per minute for the Stenographer Grade C post and 80 words per minute for the Grade D post.

Eligibility Criteria:

Educational Qualification:

  • The minimum SSC Stenographer qualification a candidate must have passed the 12th class or from a recognized board with a minimum of 55% marks from any stream.
  • A candidate should have a good knowledge of any language.

Age limit:

  • SSC Stenographer age limit for Grade c is 18 to 30, and for stenographers in Grade D is 18 to 27 years.
