About Southern Railway

Southern Railway (SR) is one of the eighteen zones of Indian Railways, headquartered in Chennai. It operates across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Puducherry. Southern Railway seeks ONLINE applications from qualified applicants for the position of Apprentice under the Apprenticeship Act of 1961. For 2,438 seats, training will be provided in selected trades throughout various Divisions/Workshops/Units under Railway administration. Applications will only be accepted online; no other submission methods are permitted.

Southern Railway Recruitment 2024 Selection Process

Criteria for Preparing Merit List:

• The merit list will be prepared based on the average percentage of marks obtained in the Matriculation and ITI examinations. Equal weightage will be given to both.

Medical Examination:

• Selected candidates must present a Medical Certificate during document verification. This certificate should comply with the Apprentices Act, 1961, and Para 4 of the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992 (as amended).
• The Medical Certificate must be signed by a Government Authorized (Gazetted) Officer, not below the rank of Assistant Surgeon from a Central or State Government Hospital.

Southern Railway Recruitment 2024 Stipend

The stipend rate will be given by the Railway Board’s circular RBE 202/2019 dated November 26, 2019, and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Notification dated September 25, 2019.

Southern Railway Recruitment 2024 Application Fee

Online payments involve a non-refundable processing fee of ₹100/- + applicable service charges. SC/ST/PwBD/Women candidates are excused from paying this cost.
