The Raman Research Institute (RRI) is a famous scientific research facility in Bengaluru, India. Sir C. V. Raman, a Nobel winner, founded the institute in 1948 as a privately owned business. Applications are being accepted for two temporary positions as Research Assistants (RA) for a project on Quantum Technology development employing ultra-cold atoms and quantum gases in the Light and Matter Physics (LAMP) Group at the Raman Research Institute. The roles are for one year and can be extended to a second year depending on the candidate’s performance.

The institute’s Quantum Mixture (QuMiX) Lab will host the shortlisted candidates. They are looking for dedicated individuals with a good academic background and the ability to measure and use scientific equipment. The candidates will collaborate with a dynamic group of professionals, including teachers, PhD and master’s students, and technocrats.

RRI Recruitment 2024 Eligibility Criteria

Educational Requirements:

• M.Sc. in Physics, Engineering Physics, Quantum Technology, Photonics, or related fields, or B.E./B.Tech in Engineering Physics, Electronics, or related fields, with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
• Preference will be given to candidates with an M.Tech, M.Phil, or equivalent degree with thesis work.

Age Limit:

• The upper age limit is 35 years as of the last date for application submission.

RRI Recruitment 2024 Job Description

Title: Research Assistant in Quantum Technology Development using Ultra-Cold Atoms.

Role: To be a team member involved in the design, assembly, and calibration of components and devices required for quantum technology development employing cold atoms and laser light.

Nature of the work:

• In the laboratory, numerous optical components, laser sources, power supply, radio frequency (RF), and microwave components are used.
• Collaboration with a team of scientists and PhD researchers is required, as is excellent cooperation and contribution to scientific and technological advancements.

Desirable

The candidate should be motivated and should have a flair for experimental work. The candidate should have experience in one or more of the following –

• Lasers and control electronics
• Optics designing / alignments.
• Electronics purchase, handling, soldering, assembling, designing, and related experience.
• Control of instruments using LabVIEW
• Radiofrequency (RF) and Microwave signal processing

Preference will be given to candidates who have previously worked with relevant research areas and have hands-on experience.

RRI Recruitment 2024 Salary

A consolidated remuneration of Rs. 31,000/- plus admissible HRA per month will be paid to the selected candidates.
