About NPCIL
The Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, is a government-owned entity responsible for generating electricity from nuclear power. Established in September 1987 under the Companies Act 1956, NPCIL operates nuclear power plants certified for ISO-14001 standards. NPCIL has announced the recruitment of Executive Trainees in various disciplines through Advertisement No: NPCIL/HQ/HRM/ET/2023/04. The recruitment process involves shortlisting candidates based on their GATE scores for Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, and Civil disciplines. NPCIL Recruitment 2024 Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the NPCIL Executive Trainee position, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:
Education Qualification
- Educational Qualification:
- Candidates should have a BE/B Tech/B Sc (Engineering)/5-year Integrated M Tech degree with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in one of the following engineering disciplines:
- Mechanical
- Chemical
- Electrical
- Electronics
- Instrumentation
- Civil
- The degree must be from a University/Deemed University or Institute recognized by AICTE/UGC.
- Applicants must have a valid GATE-2022, GATE-2023, or GATE-2024 score in the same engineering discipline as the qualifying degree.
- Candidates should have a BE/B Tech/B Sc (Engineering)/5-year Integrated M Tech degree with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in one of the following engineering disciplines:

- Candidates with qualifying degrees in specific disciplines can apply under related disciplines, but they must have a valid GATE score in that discipline.
- Candidates who have completed a 5-year integrated course leading to M.Tech with a minimum of 60% marks in the relevant discipline are also eligible to apply.
- Only the specified disciplines will be considered, and equivalent courses/disciplines will not be accepted.
- Candidates awaiting final results or appearing for the final year/semester examination in 2024 can also apply, but they must submit their final results indicating completion of the degree and percentage of marks (not less than 60%) by 30th November 2024.

NPCIL Recruitment 2024 Training
- Selected candidates for the NPCIL Executive Trainee position undergo one-year orientation training.
- Training occurs in either the Pressurised Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR) Stream or Light Water Reactor (LWR) Stream.
- PHWR Stream training is at any Nuclear Training Centre (NTC) of NPCIL sites.
- LWR Stream training is at the Nuclear Training Centre (NTC) at the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (KKNPP) Site, Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu.
- Candidates in the Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Electronics, and Instrumentation disciplines indicate a preference for ‘Reactor Stream’ during application.
- Civil discipline candidates do not need to select a ‘Reactor Stream’.
- NPCIL reserves the right to modify the training stream, venue, and duration.
NPCIL Recruitment 2024 Placement
- ETs in NPCIL may be posted nationwide or abroad after training.
- PHWR Stream ETs typically work at PHWR stations and projects across India.
- LWR Stream ETs usually serve at LWR stations and projects, including the KKNPP Site.
- Some ETs may also work at TAPS 1&2 Operating Station in Tarapur, Maharashtra.
- ETs may also be assigned roles in R&D, Design & Engineering, Procurement, and Quality Assurance.
NPCIL Recruitment 2024 Stipend
During Training:
- Monthly Stipend: Rs. 55,000/-
- One-time Book Allowance: Rs. 18,000/-
- Mandatory Lodging & Boarding: Provided by NPCIL.
NPCIL Recruitment 2024 Pay – On Appointment as SO/C
On Appointment as Scientific Officer/C (SO/C):
- Grade: Level 10 in the Pay Matrix
- Pay in the Pay Matrix: Rs. 56,100/-
- Dearness Allowance (DA): 50% of Pay in the Pay Matrix (as on 01.01.2024)
(Note: DA is based on the rates notified by the Government of India from time to time)

NPCIL Recruitment 2024 Bond
Selected candidates for NPCIL’s Executive Trainee program must sign an agreement and a personal indemnity bond totaling Rs.6,78,000/-, along with a service bond committing them to serve NPCIL for a minimum of three years post-training. No third-party surety is required for these bonds, which cover 12 months of stipend (Rs.55,000 X 12) and a one-time book allowance of Rs.18,000/-.
NPCIL Recruitment 2024 Selection Process
The selection process for NPCIL’s Executive Trainee program includes:
i. Shortlisting based on valid GATE scores from 2022, 2023, and 2024, with a ratio of 1:12.
ii. Only candidates with valid GATE scores from 2022, 2023, and 2024 are eligible.
iii. Equal weightage given to GATE scores from all three years.
iv. Separate shortlisting for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBDs) with a ratio of 1:12 for each disability category.
v. Cut-off marks displayed on NPCIL’s recruitment portal.
vi. Shortlisted candidates notified via Email/SMS for interview details.
vii. Final selection based on interview performance, with no weightage given to GATE scores. Qualifying marks for interview: Unreserved – 70%, EWS/SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/PwBD – 60%.
viii. Separate merit lists for PwBD categories, with selection based on merit.
ix. Interview results and offer letters available on NPCIL’s recruitment website.
x. Empanelled candidates required to confirm acceptance via email.
xi. Tie-breaking based on GATE score and then age if interview marks are equal.
NPCIL Recruitment 2024 Application Fee
Male applicants from General (UR), EWS, and OBC categories are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of Rs. 500. However, female applicants, SC/ST category applicants, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), Ex-Servicemen, Dependents of Defence Personnel Killed in Action (DODPKIA), and NPCIL employees are exempted from paying the application fee.
