About the Department of Telecommunication (DOT)
The Department of Telecommunications, known as DOT, operates under the Ministry of Communications within the Government of India. Telecom services are globally acknowledged as a vital tool for socio-economic development, making telecom infrastructure a crucial factor for achieving socio-economic objectives in India. Consequently, DoT formulates developmental policies aimed at accelerating the growth of telecommunication services in the country. It oversees the grant of licenses for various telecom services, including Unified Access Service Internet and VSAT service. Moreover, the department manages frequency allocation in radio communication, collaborating closely with international bodies. Additionally, it ensures regulatory compliance in wireless transmission by monitoring all users of wireless services nationwide.

NCSS DOT Internship 2024 Education Qualification
Category I:
- Indian students from recognized universities in India or abroad.
- Studying in the 3rd or 4th year (final or pre-final year) of a Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics, Communications, Telecommunication, Radio, Information Technology, Computers, or Electrical Engineering (with majors in electronics/communications/computers) or related disciplines.
- Must have secured a minimum of 60% marks.
Category II:
- Indian students from recognized universities in India or abroad.
- Completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics, Communications, Telecommunication, Radio, Information Technology, Computers, or Electrical Engineering (with majors in electronics/communications/computers) or related disciplines with a minimum of 60% marks. OR
- Completed Graduation or pursuing a Postgraduate/Master’s Degree in the above-mentioned fields with a minimum of 60% marks.
Note:
- Qualifications may be relaxed for deserving candidates based on NCCS needs, with recommendations from the Selection Committee and approval from the Head of NCCS.
- Meeting the minimum qualifications does not guarantee an internship at NCCS. Preference will be given to candidates with relevant exposure, a good academic background, and higher qualifications based on NCCS needs.
NCSS DOT Internship 2024 Duration of Training
Category I:
- Minimum duration: 60 days
Category II:
- Minimum duration: 6 months, extendable up to a maximum of 12 months
- Extension beyond 6 months requires an application from the intern, a recommendation from the concerned Head of Division, and approval from the Head of NCCS.
NCSS DOT Internship 2024 Selection Process
- Preliminary Scrutiny: Applications are checked for eligibility and shortlisted candidates are presented to the selection committee.
- Selection Committee: A selection committee is formed with the approval of the Head of NCCS.
- Interviews: The selection committee may conduct personal or telephonic interviews if required. No TA/DA is provided for attending interviews.
- Institution Interaction: NCCS may identify interns for specific domains after interacting with academic institutions.
- Application Limitation: NCCS may limit the number of applicants for a period and decide the mode of screening based on the number of applications received.
- No Objection Certificate: Category 1 applicants must provide a letter from their Supervisor/Head of Department/Institution indicating their status and a “No Objection” for the internship period before joining.
- Nature of Internship: The internship is neither a job nor an assurance of a job with NCCS.
NCSS DOT Internship 2024 Placements
- Interns will be attached to an officer in one of the NCCS divisions.
- An orientation workshop will be held at the beginning of the internship.
- Interns’ work will be monitored through periodic interactions.
- The Divisions/Units in NCCS will maintain the attendance records and details of work supervision.
NCSS DOT Internship 2024 Remuneration
- Interns in Category 1 will receive a token remuneration of Rs. 7,500 per month on a prorated basis.
- Interns in Category 2 will receive a token remuneration of Rs. 15,000 per month on a prorated basis.
- Remuneration will be paid after the completion of the month, subject to satisfactory progress of work as accepted by the concerned division.
NCSS DOT Internship 2024 – How To Apply
Interested and eligible candidates are required to submit their applications along with their CVs and areas of work interest using the prescribed application form (attached as Annexure-II) to the designated office of NCCS, in response to the advertisement/notification from NCCS. Student applicants must include a recommendation from their current institution where they are studying.
