Naval Dockyard Apprentices Recruitment 2024 Eligibility Criteria
Education Qualification
The essential educational qualifications align with Schedule I of the Apprentices Act 1961. For ITI trades, candidates should have passed. For non-ITI trades:
- Rigger: Standard VIII Pass
- Forger & Heat Treater: SSC/Matric/Std X Pass
Age limit
There’s no upper age limit for apprenticeship training. The minimum age is 14, and for hazardous jobs, it’s 18, as per the Apprentice Act 1961. Eligibility: born before June 2010 for non-hazardous trades and before June 2006 for hazardous ones. However, there’s an age limit for Tradesman Skilled post in Naval Dockyard, Mumbai.
Minimum Physical Standard
Candidates should meet the following physical requirements:
- Height: Minimum 150 cm
- Weight: Not less than 45 kg
- Chest expansion: Not less than 5 cm
- Eyesight: 6/6 to 6/9 (6/9 corrected with glasses)
- External & internal organs should be normal
These standards are by the MoD letter FM10442/NHQ/1278 D(N-II) dated 14 Nov 1996.
Previous Training
Candidates who have previously completed or are presently undergoing apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act – 1961 in any government, public sector, or private industrial organization are ineligible to apply for the current enrollment.
Naval Dockyard Apprentices Recruitment 2024 Selection Process
Candidates will be shortlisted for the written exam based on their qualifications and applications received by the closing date. The process includes:
- Preliminary Merit List: Candidates with valid applications will be listed based on their ITI or non-ITI qualifications, with ties broken by percentage and date of birth.
- Written Exam: Shortlisted candidates will receive E-admit cards for an OMR-based exam covering General Science, Mathematics, and General Awareness. No negative marking and the duration is 2 hours.
- Medium: The exam will be bilingual in English and Hindi.
- Examination Center: Mumbai only, with the exam likely in May/June 2024. Exact details will be communicated via email.
- Provisional Merit List: After the written exam, a provisional list will be prepared based on marks obtained, with ties broken by date of birth and alphabetical order of names.
- Interview: Shortlisted candidates from the provisional list will be interviewed in Mumbai, covering document verification and technical skills.
- Final Merit List: A final list will be prepared based on written exam and interview performance, with candidates called for apprenticeship training accordingly.
Naval Dockyard Apprentices Recruitment 2024 Stipend
Selected candidates for Naval Dockyard ITI Apprenticeships will receive a monthly stipend according to apprenticeship rules. The stipend ranges from Rs. 7700/- to Rs. 8050/-.
