About Metal & Steel Factory

The Metal & Steel Factory, Ishapore, produces high-strength ferrous and non-ferrous materials for military hardware. It uses advanced facilities like an Electric Arc Furnace, Ladle Furnace Vacuum Degassing, and electro-steel remelting to produce ultra-clean steel. The factory features a 2650T Forging Press for shaping gun barrels, a CNC-controlled 1250T Radial Forging Press, a hot rolling mill, and a high-precision cold rolling mill for thin strips.

MSF excels in producing steel cartridge cases from HSLA-grade steel and high-quality brass billets. Quality control includes ultrasonography, chemical testing, spectrographic analysis, XRF spectrometry, hydrogen gas analysis, and 3D coordinate measurement, ensuring superior product quality and performance under high stress.

Metal & Steel Factory Apprentice 2024

Under the Skill India Mission, Metal and Steel Factory Ishapore (West Bengal), a unit under Yantra India Limited (A Government of India Enterprise), is seeking Graduate Apprentices and Diploma/Technician Apprentices for one year of apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act, 1961, and its amendments. The training will be conducted in various disciplines through the Government of India NATS Portal.

Metal & Steel Factory Apprentice 2024 Eligibility Criteria

Education Qualification

1. Graduate Apprentices:
   • A degree in engineering or technology from institutions empowered to grant such degrees by an Act of Parliament.
   • Graduate examination of professional bodies recognized by the Central Government as equivalent to a degree.
   • Sandwich students training to obtain a degree in engineering or technology as mentioned above.
2. Diploma Apprentices:
   • A diploma issued by institutes approved by AICTE.

Age Limit:

• Diploma Holders (Technical): Between 18 to 22 years as on the closing date.
• Graduate (Technical): Between 21 to 25 years as on the closing date.

Important Note:

• If the candidate’s joining date for Apprenticeship Training in this factory is more than 5 years from the date of passing their Diploma/Graduation, they will not be eligible under the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS).

Relaxation in Age Limit:

• SC/ST Candidates: 5 years.
• OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years.

Metal & Steel Factory Apprentice 2024 Selection Process

1. Merit List:
   • Selection will be based on a Merit List and the available vacancies as published in the advertisement.
   • The final Merit List will be prepared based on the descending order of marks obtained by candidates in their respective Graduate or Diploma courses.
2. Document Verification:
   • Shortlisted candidates, as per the vacancy position, will be called for document verification according to the number of notified vacancies.
3. Tie-Breaking Criteria:
   • In case two candidates have the same marks, the candidate with the older age will be preferred.
   • If the dates of birth are also the same, the candidate who passed their Graduate or Diploma examination earlier (by year) will be considered first.
   • If the year of passing is also the same, the candidate whose name appears first in alphabetical order will be given preference.
4. Final Selection:
   • Candidates finally listed in the select list will be subject to satisfactory police verification, educational qualification verification, and a requisite medical examination.

Metal & Steel Factory Apprentice 2024 Stipend

• Technician Apprentices (Diploma Holders or Sandwich Course Students):
  • Rs. 8000/- per month
• Graduate Apprentices (Degree Holders in Any Stream):
  • Rs. 9000/- per month

No other allowances will be paid during the entire period of apprenticeship training. The minimum stipend shall be paid as per the provisions of Sub-Rule (1) of Rule 11 of the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992.

Metal & Steel Factory Apprentice 2024 Duration of Training

The duration of Apprenticeship Training is specified in the Apprentices Act, Apprenticeship Rules, 1992, and amendments thereof. However, for Engineering Graduates and Diploma Holders, the period of Apprenticeship Training shall be one year.

Metal & Steel Factory Apprentice 2024 Application Fee

No fee shall be charged to the candidates applying for Graduate and Diploma Apprenticeship training.

Metal & Steel Factory Apprentice 2024- Steps To Apply

1. Eligible candidates must register on the NATS Portal and then apply for Graduate / Diploma Apprenticeships through the NATS Web Portal.
2. Candidates should provide their active mobile number and valid e-mail ID in the online application. These should remain active throughout the engagement process, as important messages will be communicated via email/SMS.
3. Original documents required at the time of document verification include:
   • Caste Certificate (SC/ST/OBC)
   • Non-Creamy Layer Certificate for OBC candidates
   • Physical Disability Certificate for PH/PWD Candidates
4. Provisionally selected candidates with an Aadhaar Card must produce the original Aadhaar card or the documents uploaded during NATS portal registration at the time of document verification.
