About Jharkhand High Court (JHC)

Established in 2000, the Jharkhand High Court is among India’s newest high courts. Located in Ranchi, the administrative capital of Jharkhand, it holds jurisdiction over the state. With a sanctioned judge strength of 25, the court is set to have a new building constructed. Spread across 165 acres near the HEC Industrial Complex, the project includes the development of the high court, a residential complex for judges, and lawyers’ chambers, estimated at Rs. 460 Crores. Additionally, the complex will feature amenities like an auditorium with a 1000-seat capacity, four conference rooms, and eight committee meeting halls. Notably, the court initiated live proceedings of virtual hearings on YouTube on December 15, 2021, making it the sixth high court in India to do so.

Education Qualification

• Candidates must hold a graduation or equivalent degree from a recognized University/Institution. Knowledge of computer operation is essential.
• Applicants must possess the required minimum qualification on or before the last date of submission of the online application.
• They should also be proficient in computer applications and possess sound knowledge of typing on computers, with a minimum typing speed of 20 words per minute.
• Eligibility criteria for candidates applying under the Games and Sports quota will adhere to the norms specified in Sankalp No. 1709, dated 12.09.2007, issued by the Department of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Sports & Youth Affairs, Government of Jharkhand, for direct recruitment to Group C positions.

Age Limit

• Candidates must have sound health and good moral character, with no involvement in criminal cases or offenses involving moral turpitude.
• The minimum age requirement is 21 years, with upper age limits varying based on category: 35 years for Unreserved & EWS, 37 years for B.C.-I and B.C.–II, 38 years for females (Unreserved, EWS, B.C.-I, and B.C.-II), and 40 years for S.T. and S.C. categories (for both Male & Female) as of January 1, 2024.
• Persons with Disabilities (PwD) receive a further age relaxation of ten (10) years, while ex-servicemen are provided with a five (5) year age relaxation in the upper age limit.
• Relevant certificates for ex-servicemen must be produced when required.
