About Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP)

Weight: Proportionate to height and age as per medical standards.
Note: Candidates seeking relaxation in height or chest measurements must submit a certificate as per the specified format when requested by the recruitment board.
Medical Standards:
- Eye Sight: 6/6 and 6/9 for both eyes without glasses.
- Colour Vision: Must not be color blind. Tattoos must follow ITBP guidelines:
- Content: Religious symbols or figures permitted.
- Location: Only on the inner left forearm or hands.
- Size: Less than 1/4th of the elbow or hand.
- Other Conditions:
- Candidates must not have knock knees, flat foot, varicose veins, or squint in the eyes.
- Good physical and mental health is required for duty efficiency.
Recruitment 2024 Selection Process
Phase 1: Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
- 1.6 Kms Race: Must be completed within 7.30 minutes.
- 11 Feet Long Jump: Candidates are provided 3 attempts.
- 3½ Feet High Jump: Candidates are provided 3 attempts.
- Scoring: No marks awarded; PET is qualifying only.
- Elimination: Candidates failing to qualify in any event will be eliminated and issued a rejection slip.
- Appeal: No provision for appeal if a candidate fails any event.
- Ex-Servicemen: Exempt from PET but must qualify PST, Written Examination, Documentation, Practical Test, and Medical Examination.
Phase 1: Physical Standard Test (PST)
- Screening for Candidates: Candidates qualifying in PET will undergo height, weight, and chest measurements.
- Elimination Criteria: Those not meeting the required physical measurements will be eliminated at this stage.
- Rejection Slip: Issued to candidates who do not meet height and chest requirements at the time of PST.
Phase 2: Written Test (OMR Based) (100 Marks)
- Eligibility: Candidates qualifying in the PST will take the written examination.
- Admit Card: Available online, including date and venue details. Candidates must download it from the ITBPF recruitment website.
- Examination Format: Objective-type multiple-choice questions (OMR or Computer-Based Test at ITBPF’s discretion).

- Standard of Questions: Questions will be of 10th Standard level.
- Cut-off Percentage: Minimum qualifying cut-off percentage will be announced.
Phase 3: Verification of Original Documents
- Eligibility for Document Verification: Candidates who qualify the written exam (ten times the category-wise vacancies) will be called for original document verification based on written exam marks.
- Document Check: Original documents will be checked before the Practical (Skill) Test. Candidates should ensure eligibility to avoid future discrepancies.
- Document Return: Original documents will be returned immediately after verification; self-attested copies will be retained with the application.
- Required Documents: Candidates must bring original copies of relevant documents for verification (specific documents will be listed based on requirements).
