About Indian Army
The Indian Army, the land-based arm of the Indian Armed Forces, is led professionally by the Chief of Army Staff and reports to the Supreme Commander, the President of India. It was founded on April 1, 1895, and absorbed the presidency armies of the East India Company in 1903. Following independence, princely state forces were amalgamated into it, resulting in a diversified force with extensive fighting history and various honors.

The Indian Army Recruitment 2024 welcomes applications for the following positions under the NCC Special Entry Scheme. There are 76 openings available. Applicants must apply online. Indian Army Recruitment 2024 Vacancy
Vacancies
NCC Men: 70 vacancies (63 for General Category and 07 for Wards of Battle Casualties of Indian Army personnel only).
NCC Women: 06 vacancies (05 for General Category and 01 for Wards of Battle Casualties of Indian Army personnel only).
Note: Vacancies for Men and Women are published separately based on the operational and administrative needs of the Force. Although vacancies for the NCC-57 Course are notified through a common notification, selection and merit lists for both categories are done separately.
Indian Army Recruitment 2024 Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility
- Nationality: A candidate must be:
- (i) A citizen of India, or
- (ii) A subject of Nepal, or
- (iii) A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam to permanently settle in India.
Note: Certificate of eligibility is required for categories (ii) and (iii) except for Gorkha subjects of Nepal.
- Age Limit: 19 to 25 years as of 01 Jan 2025 (born between 02 Jan 2000 and 01 Jan 2006).
- Educational Qualification and Other Criteria:
- For NCC ‘C’ Certificate Holders:
- (i) Educational Qualification: Degree from a recognized University with a minimum aggregate of 50%. Final-year students can apply if they have secured 50% aggregate marks in previous years.
- (ii) Service in NCC: Minimum two/three years in Senior Division/Wg of NCC.
- (iii) Grading: Minimum ‘B’ Grade in NCC ‘C’ Certificate Exam.
- For NCC ‘C’ Certificate Holders:
Note: Provisional NCC ‘C’ Certificates are not accepted at SSB.

- For Wards of Battle Casualties of Indian Army Personnel:
- (i) Eligibility Criteria: Unmarried sons and daughters (including legally adopted) of Battle casualties.
- (ii) Educational Qualification: Degree from a recognized university with a minimum aggregate of 50%.
- (iii) NCC ‘C’ certificate is NOT required.
- For Wards of Battle Casualties of Indian Army Personnel:

Note: Candidates can only appear for one SSB interview either for SSC (NT)-121/SSC (NT) (Women)-35 or NCC (Spl) Entry-57 Course.
- Document Submission:
- Qualified Graduates: Must produce provisional/degree certificate by 1st April 2025.
- Final Year Students: Must submit proof of passing the graduation degree exam and marksheets by 1st April 2025.
- Wards of Battle Casualties Documents:
- Battle Casualty certificate issued by Manpower (Policy & Planning) Directorate (MP Dte).
Indian Army Recruitment 2024 Tenure of Engagement
- Short Service Commission (SSC):
- Granted to both Male and Female officers for 14 years.
- The initial period of 10 years, is extendable by an additional 4 years.
- After 10 years, officers may be considered for Permanent Commission (PC) if eligible and suitable.
- SSC officers not granted PC but deemed fit may continue as SSCOs for 14 years.
- At the end of 14 years, officers will be released from the Indian Army.
- Period of Probation:
- Officers are on probation for six months from receiving their commission.
- If found unsuitable during the probationary period, their services may be terminated at any time.
Indian Army Recruitment 2024 Selection Process
Selection Procedure
- Shortlisting of Applications:
- Applications are shortlisted by the Integrated Headquarters of the Ministry of Defence (Army).
- Centre allotment will be communicated via email.
- Candidates need to log in to the website to select their SSB dates, initially available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
- SSB Interviews:
- Only shortlisted candidates will undergo SSB at Allahabad, Bhopal, Bangalore, or Jalandhar.
- Call-up letters will be sent via email and SMS.
- Centre allotment is at the discretion of the Directorate General of Recruiting.
- Selection Stages:
- Two-stage selection procedure.
- Candidates clearing Stage I proceed to Stage II; those failing Stage I are returned the same day.
- SSB interview lasts five days, followed by a medical examination for recommended candidates.
- Medical Examination:
- Detailed standards and procedures are on the official website.
- Medical Board proceedings are confidential and strictly adhered to.

Indian Army Recruitment 2024 – How To Apply?
- Online Application:
- Visit www.joinindianarmy.nic.in.
- Click ‘Officer Entry Application/Login’ and register or log in.
- Fill out the registration form carefully.
- Click ‘Apply Online’ under the Dashboard and select SSC NCC Special Entry Course.
- Fill in details (Personal, Communication, Education, Previous SSB).
- Click ‘Save & Continue’ after each segment.
- Verify all details in the ‘Summary of your information’ and click ‘Submit’.
- Print two copies of the application 30 minutes after the final closure.
- Documents to Carry to the Selection Centre:
- One copy of the signed application with a self-attested photograph.
- Original and self-attested copies of:
- Matriculation/Secondary School Certificate and Mark Sheet.
- 12th Class Certificate & Mark Sheet.
- Graduation Degree/Provisional Degree (Provisional Degree should be recent).
- Marks Sheets of all years/semesters.
- NCC ‘C’ Certificate (if applicable).
- CGPA conversion certificate from the university.
- Certificate from the Principal for final-year candidates.
- Declaration for final year degree candidates regarding proof of passing by 1st April 2025.
- Additional documents for Wards of Battle Casualties.
- Important Notes:
- No changes can be made after application closure.
- Convert CGPA/Grades to marks as per the university formula.
- Ensure names and dates match with the Matriculation/Secondary School Examination certificate.
- Only one application should be submitted; multiple applications will result in cancellation.
- Inform your Commanding Officer if you are serving in the Indian Armed Forces and bring a counter-signed application to the SSB interview.
