The Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) recruitment selection is based on a merit list derived from 10th-grade examination results. Marks are averaged and translated to percentages with an accuracy of four decimals. Applicants who submit grades or points rather than marks will have their scores calculated using a standard multiplication factor. Specific considerations are made for various school boards to provide fair evaluation across grading systems.
GDSs receive Time-Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA), which increases annually by 3%. They are entitled to Dearness Allowance on TRCA as per government norms. Additional benefits include GDS Gratuity and the Service Discharge Benefit Scheme, similar to the New Pension Scheme for regular employees.
