About DRDO Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE)

Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE), a laboratory under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), is located in Bengaluru. Its primary function is the research and development of aero-gas turbines for military aircraft. Additionally, GTRE has been developing marine gas turbines as a spin-off effect.

Initially known as the Gas Turbine Research Centre (GTRC), it was established in 1959 at No. 4 BRD Air Force Station in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. In November 1961, it was brought under DRDO, renamed GTRE, and subsequently moved to Bengaluru, Karnataka.

Age Limit

Upper Age Limit: 28 years as on the last date of receipt of application (relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC candidates as per Government of India orders).

DRDO GTRE Recruitment 2024 Selection Process

1. Original Documents: You must bring the original documents along with a self-attested copy of each of the following:
   • 10th Mark sheet and Certificate
   • 12th Mark sheet and Certificate
   • B.E/B.Tech or M.E/M.Tech Mark sheets for all semesters
   • Degree / Provisional Degree Certificate
   • Caste Certificate (if applicable)
   • GATE Scorecard (if applicable)
   • Photo ID Card issued by the Government of India (like an Aadhaar Card)
2. Marks Conversion: If your qualifying exam uses CGPA, convert it to a percentage as per your university’s norms. This conversion will be verified during the document verification process.
3. Interview Selection: An equal number of candidates will be selected for interviews from both B.E/B.Tech with a valid GATE score and M.E/M.Tech applicants.
4. Application Form: Ensure you have the signed printout of your application form for submission during document verification.

DRDO GTRE Recruitment 2024 Extension and Upgradation

The fellowship will initially be for two (two) years and may be extended based on the candidate’s performance under the guidelines. The fellowship shall not last more than five years in total.
