Department of Telecommunication (DOT) Eligibility Criteria
Education Qualification
- Essential Qualification: Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics, Communications, Telecommunications, Information Technology, Computers, Electrical Engineering (with majors in electronics/communications/computers), or a related discipline with at least 60% marks or an equivalent CGPA.
- Desirable Qualification:
- Candidates possessing a valid Gate Score in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology, or similar fields would be given preference, with a minimum score as stipulated in Annexure II.
- A postgraduate/master’s degree in electronics, communications, telecommunications, information technology, computers, or a related area with a minimum of 60% (together with a valid Gate Score at the time of admission).
- PhD in relevant disciplines.
- Candidates must have at least one year of relevant work experience (as indicated in Annexure VII) or a six-month internship certificate from NCCS/TEC.
Age Limit
Candidates should be below 28 years for Graduates/BE/BTech, 30 years for Post Graduates/MTech/MS, and 35 years for PhD candidates as of the date of the Notification.

The selection process for the above-mentioned posts is based on Merit List, and Interview.
Department of Telecommunication (DOT) Salary & Training
Research Associates (RAs) will receive a consolidated monthly payment of Rs. 75,000, with an annual increase of Rs. 7,500 based on performance. They can undertake domestic tours with a Travel Allowance provided. Reimbursement includes hotel charges up to Rs. 750/day, taxi charges up to Rs. 225/day, and food charges based on absence duration. For road journeys, travel allowances apply based on entitlement and connectivity.
Research Associates (RAs) will undergo orientation training lasting 1-2 weeks to acquire job-related knowledge and skills.
Department of Telecommunication (DOT) Work Responsibilities
Role Overview: RAs will focus on studying, formulating, and assessing security standards in emerging ICT areas such as Telecom, Network, and Cyber Security.
Scope of Work: Tasks include evaluating 4G/5G Networks, Cloud Security, Cryptography, Artificial Intelligence, etc., and contributing to international standardization organizations like ITU, APT, IEEE, and IEC.
Division Attachment: RAs will be attached to a division within NCCS, with the possibility of rotation based on requirements and personal skills.
Monitoring and Supervision: Regular monitoring of work and supervision will be maintained by NCCS divisions to ensure quality and progress.
Place of Posting: RAs will be stationed at NCCS, City Telephone Exchange, Sampangirama Nagar, Bengaluru 560027.
