BSF Recruitment 2024 Eligibility Criteria

For  Assistant  Commandant

• Education Qualification:

Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized University or Institution.

• Age Limit: Below 35 years for Assistant Commandant (Electrical). Relaxations:
  • Central Government Employees (Unreserved) with 3 years of continuous service: 5 years.
  • Children and dependent families affected by communal riots in 1984 or Gujarat riots in 2002: 5 years.
• Physical Standards:
  • Height: Male – 165 cms, Female – 157 cms
  • Chest (Male): 81 cms (unexpanded) with 5 cms minimum expansion
  • Weight: Male – 50 kgs, Female – Not less than 46 kgs
• Medical Standards:
  • Vision: 6/6 and 6/9 without correction, no physical defects interfering with duties
  • Follows MHA guidelines, provision for Review Medical Examination (RME) if unfit
• Tattoo Policy:
  • Allows religious symbols, limited size, and specific locations
  • Scars from tattoo removal are treated differently
  • A medical examination will be  conducted accordingly

For  Deputy Commandant

Education Qualification

1. i) Graduates with a Basic Aircraft Maintenance Engineer’s Examination Certificate or License in Avionics or Mechanical stream, including three years as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer. ii) Holders of an Engineering Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, and Telecommunications, or Aeronautical stream, or Graduates with an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer’s license or Basic Aircraft Maintenance Engineer’s Examination certificate or license in Air Frame or Engine.

Age limit

• Junior Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (Deputy Commandant): Not exceeding 35 years of age.

Relaxation

• Age relaxations vary based on categories like OBC, Central Government Employees, residents of Jammu & Kashmir, and those affected by riots in 1984 and 2002.

PHYSICAL STANDARDS TEST (PSI)

• Height, Chest, and Weight standards are specified for males and females.

MEDICAL STANDARDS

• Medical examination follows MHA guidelines for recruitment in CAPFs & AR, including provisions for Review Medical Examination. Consideration is given to tattoos and scars from tattoo removal.

Note: (i) *Female candidates of all categories and candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes, and BSF serving personnel are exempted from payment of the examination fee. However, a service charge of Rs.40/- plus taxes will be levied on every candidate, including those in the exempted category, by the CSC. (ii) Payment of examination fees will be accepted only through online mode. (iii) The fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances. (iv) In case of non-receipt of examination fees from candidates of non-exempted categories, their forms will not be accepted
