Eligibility Criteria: Bombay High Court Recruitment 2023

Age Limit(As on 29/11/2023) –
- Minimum Age: 21 Years
- Maximum Age: 28 Years
Age Relaxation –
- General Category: Up to 43 years
- Others: As per Government instructions
Educational Qualifications –
- A University Degree is mandatory.
- For candidates with relevant experience, the degree requirement can be waived.
- A minimum of 10 years as a Stenographer (Lower Grade) or 8 years as a Stenographer (Higher Grade) in the High Court, any other Court or Tribunal, or in the office of the Advocate General or Government Pleader is considered, with a preference for those having a Degree in Law.
- Successful completion of the Government Commercial Certificate Examination or a similar examination conducted by a Government Board is necessary.
- Proficiency in Computer Typing with a Government Certificate in Computer Typing Basic Course (GCC-TBC) or I.T.I. is required, with a typing speed of 120 words per minute or higher in English Shorthand and 50 words per minute in English Typing.
- Competency in operating a Word Processor in Windows and Linux, including M.S. Office, M.S. Word, Wordstar-7, and Open Office Org., certified by an institution within Maharashtra University/Goa/Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education, is also a prerequisite.

Salary Range: Rs. 67,700 to Rs. 208,700
Selection Process – Bombay High Court Recruitment 2023
Selection process based on merit:
- Merit is determined by performance in the Shorthand Test, Typing Test, and Viva-voce.
- Shorthand and Typing Tests each carry 40 marks, while the Viva-voce is worth 20 marks.
- Minimum passing marks for both the Shorthand and Typing Tests are 20 marks each.
- Shorthand Transcription and Typing Tests are computer-based.
- Candidates passing the Shorthand Dictation Test proceed to the Typing Test. Success in the Typing Test qualifies them for the Viva-voce.
The examination comprises three parts:
- PART – I (40 marks): Dictation of two passages in English, totaling 600 words, for taking down dictation in five minutes and transcribing it within 35 minutes to assess Shorthand speed and accuracy.
- PART – II (40 marks): Typing a 500-word English passage within 10 minutes to evaluate English Typing speed and accuracy.
- PART – III (20 marks): Conducting a Viva-voce interview worth 20 marks.
