The Indian Navy will use its Deep Submergence Rescue Vehicle (DSRV) for rescue operations.

Siddhartha Agarwal, a 49-year-old swimmer from Bengaluru, became the oldest Indian to swim across the English Channel.

He completed the 42-km swim from England to France on August 29 in 15 hours and six minutes.

Agarwal’s first attempt at crossing the Channel was in 2018 as part of an eight-member relay team.

In 2018, Srikaanth Viswanathan became the oldest to swim the Channel solo at age 46.

Agarwal surpassed Viswanathan’s record six years later.

The final 10 km of Agarwal’s swim was particularly challenging due to harsh conditions and high tides.

His preparations were guided by coach Satish Kumar, a former international swimmer.
