Justice Suresh Kumar Kait was sworn in as the 28th Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
The oath was administered by Governor Mangubhai Patel at the Sandipani Auditorium, Raj Bhavan, in Bhopal.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav was present at the ceremony and later congratulated Justice Kait with a bouquet.
Chief Secretary Veera Rana read the notification issued by President Droupadi Murmu, appointing Justice Kait as Chief Justice.
Justice Kait officially assumes his duties on Thursday.
CM Yadav hosted a lunch in honor of Justice Kait, who also visited the CM’s residence.
Justice Suresh Kumar Kait hails from Kaithal district in Haryana and has served as a judge since April 12, 2013.
Before this, he served in the Delhi High Court from 2018 and the Telangana High Court from 2016 to 2018.

India signed the Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ) Agreement, also known as the ‘High Seas Treaty,’ to enhance its strategic presence beyond its EEZ and focus on marine biodiversity conservation.
The agreement was signed by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar at the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The BBNJ Agreement is a legally binding international treaty under the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.
India joined the agreement, which was opened for signature in September 2023 and will enter into force 120 days after the 60th ratification.

He held key positions such as Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Training) and Air Defence Commander at the Eastern Air Command.
He was the first Director General of the Defence Space Agency.
For the past two years, he has been heading the Eastern Air Command.
