Malaysia has announced that its next and 17th king will be Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar from the southern state of Johor.
Malaysia’s royal families elected Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar to be the country’s next king.
He will take over from the incumbent King Al-Sultan Abdullah on 31st January next year.
Malaysia has a unique system in which the heads of its nine royal families take turns to be monarch for a five-year term.
The Southeast Asian country is a parliamentary democracy with the monarch serving as the ceremonial head of state.

The inaugural program of the Tribal Youth Exchange Program was held at Mumbai University.
The 15th Tribal Youth Exchange Program will be organized from 28th October to 2nd November.
The program’s main aim is to generate curiosity among the tribal youth and to encourage them to become part of mainstream development.
It gave opportunity to tribal people to share their knowledge and intelligence among their community and peer group.
220 participants are participating in this program and participants will also get a chance to visit Vidhan Bhawan on 31st October.

India finished the Para Asian Games 2023 in fifth position with a record haul of 111 medals.
India won 29 Gold, 31 Silver, and 51 bronze medals at the Asian Games in Hangzhou.
Seven medals came from chess, four from athletics, and one from rowing.
China with 521 medals including 214 Gold, 167 silver, and 140 bronze topped the medal tally.
Iran and Japan won 131 medals and 150 medals respectively. Korea ended the tournament in fourth spot with 103 medals.
This year, India sent its largest contingent, consisting of 303 athletes (191 male & 112 female).
India competed in 17 out of 22 events and competed for the first time in rowing, canoeing, lawn bowls, taekwondo and blind football.
This is the highest number of medals won by India in any major multisport event. Para Athletes surpassed the 107 medals record won at the Asian Games 2023.
India had won 14 medals in the 2010 edition, 33 in 2014, and 72 in 2018.
Earlier, India surpassed the 100-medal mark at a major multisport meet the 101 medals won at the Delhi Commonwealth Games in 2010.

The Government has decided to impose a minimum export price (MEP) of $ 800 per tonne on onion exports. This decision will come into effect from 29 October.
The government has also announced the procurement of an additional 2 lakh tonnes of onion for the buffer.
In the retail market, Onion prices have further risen to ₹65-80 per kilogram.
The MEP is there for all varieties of onions except Bangalore Rose and Krishnapuram onions.
The DGFT notification added that certain onion consignments will be allowed to be exported without MEP.

Cdr M Arun Chakravarthy is the winner of the Indian Navy’s Sardar KM Panikkar ‘NIB’ essay competition.
V Adm K Swaminathan COP and Cmde G Rambabu, Commodore (Naval Education) were also present on this occasion.

In Manipur, the annual festival “Mera Houchongba” has been celebrated at Kangla in Imphal.
The festival is held to foster and consolidate relations among hill tribes and valley people of the State
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh along with the titular king of Manipur and Member of Rajya Sabha Leishemba Sanajaoba inaugurated the festival.

In a pioneering move, the Department of Consumer Affairs (DoCA) in India, in partnership with IIT-BHU, has launched the “Dark Patterns Buster Hackathon 2023”.
This initiative aims to harness the collective power of hackers to develop cutting-edge solutions that protect consumers from the deceptive practices of dark patterns in e-commerce platforms.
The hackathon will run until February 17, 2024, and is structured into four levels.
The top five teams will receive cash prizes as follows:
1st Prize: INR 10 lakhs
2nd Prize: INR 5 lakhs
3rd Prize: INR 3 lakhs
4th Prize: INR 2 lakhs
5th Prize: INR 1 lakh

HAL and Safran Aircraft Engines have signed an MoU to enhance industrial cooperation in aerospace.
HAL will manufacture LEAP engine parts, while jointly developing the Indian Multi-Role Helicopter.
One of the central aspects of this collaboration involves HAL’s production of LEAP (Leading Edge Aviation Propulsion) engine forgings at its state-of-the-art Foundry and Forge facility located in Bengaluru.
These LEAP engines power prominent aircraft models such as the Airbus A320 Neo family and the Boeing 737 Max.
