The first International Conference on Advancements of Research & Global Opportunities for Holistic Ayurveda (AROHA-2024) was inaugurated on 17 October 2024.
Chief Justice of India, Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, inaugurated the AROHA-2024 conference in New Delhi.
The conference is being held from 17-19 October 2024 in New Delhi.
AROHA-2024 is organized by the All India Institute of Ayurveda, New Delhi, an autonomous institute under the Union Ministry of Ayush.
The theme of AROHA-2024 is “Advancements in Research and Global Opportunities for Holistic Ayurveda.”

India extended a line of credit worth Rs 487.60 crores to the Government of Mauritius.
The loan was provided under the Indian Development and Economic Assistance Scheme (IDEAS) programme.
This is the first time India has extended a line of credit in Indian rupees to a foreign government under IDEAS.
The loan was offered by Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar to Mauritius Foreign Minister Maneesh Gobin.
The loan will finance the replacement of around 100 km of obsolete water pipelines in Mauritius.
The State Bank of India (SBI) will provide the Rs 487.60 crore loan.
IDEAS was initially launched as the India Development Initiative in the 2003-2004 budget by Finance Minister Jaswant Singh with an allocation of Rs 200 crore.
The program was later renamed as the Indian Development and Economic Assistance Scheme (IDEAS).

India and Mauritania signed four Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) during President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to Mauritania.
President Droupadi Murmu is on a three-nation tour to Algeria, Mauritania, and Malawi from 13-17 October 2024.
President Droupadi Murmu is the first Indian president to visit these African countries.
President Murmu arrived in Mauritania on 16 October 2024 after her visit to Algeria.
She was received at Nouakchott-Oumtounsy International Airport by the President of Mauritania, Mohamed Ould Ghazouani.
Bilateral talks were held between President Murmu and Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani at the Presidential Palace in Nouakchott.
Four MoUs signed between India and Mauritania focused on:
Training of diplomats
Cultural exchange
Visa exemption
Foreign Office consultations
President Murmu addressed the Indian community in Mauritania at a reception hosted by the Indian Ambassador.

Indian shooters finished their ISSF World Cup Final 2024 campaign with 4 medals: 2 silver and 2 bronze.
In the previous edition (2023), Anish Bhanwala won India’s only medal in the men’s 25m rapid-fire pistol event.
The ISSF World Cup Final 2024 was held at the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range in New Delhi from 13 to 18 October 2024.
New Delhi hosted the ISSF World Cup final for the second time, having previously hosted it in 2017.
Sonam Maskar won India’s first medal, a silver in the women’s 10m air rifle shooting event.
This was Sonam Maskar’s third medal at the 2024 ISSF World Cup.
Vivaan Kapoor won a silver medal in the men’s skeet event, his first-ever senior shooting event medal.
Akhil Sheoran won the bronze medal in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions shooting event.
Analjaeet Singh Naruka won a bronze medal in the men’s trap event, marking the final medal for India.

The Uttarakhand Madrasa Education Board (UMEB) plans to introduce Sanskrit as a compulsory subject in 416 madrassas across the state.
In addition to Sanskrit, the inclusion of computer studies is under consideration to enrich the academic curriculum for madrassa students.
The UMEB introduced the NCERT syllabus in madrassas, resulting in over 95 percent success for students this year.
The UMEB has registered 416 madrassas, collectively serving over 70,000 students.
