Winners in various categories will be conferred in a function on 22 October 2024 in New Delhi.
The award function will be presided over by President Droupadi Murmu.
The National Water Awards were instituted by the Department of Water Resources, River Development, and Ganga Rejuvenation under the Ministry of Jal Shakti.
The awards aim to create awareness about the importance of water and promote best practices for water usage.
The first National Water Awards were given in 2018, followed by awards in 2019, 2020, and 2022.

The Uttar Pradesh government, led by Yogi Adityanath, will set up the country’s first museum of Hindi literature in Kashi (Varanasi).
This museum will be the first in India dedicated to a language.
A literary museum exists in Kolkata, dedicated to Rabindranath Tagore, but the Kashi museum will be the first language-based museum.
The Uttar Pradesh government has allocated Rs 25 crore for the museum project.
The museum will conserve and display the works, old manuscripts, and books of eminent Hindi scholars.
It will also showcase photographs, important documents, and related literature of famous Hindi litterateurs.
Statues of Hindi scholars, an amphitheater, and an auditorium will be part of the museum.
The Uttar Pradesh government has released Rs 163.151 crore as compensation to farmers whose crops were damaged due to recent floods.

The Indian Navy launched “Samarthak,” the first vessel under the Multi-Purpose Vessel (MPV) project.
The vessel is being constructed by L&T Shipyard at Kattupalli.
The launch event aligns with India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives.
Shashi Tripathi, President of the Navy Wives Welfare Association (NWWA), performed the honors at the launch.
The ceremony was presided over by Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi.
“Samarthak” means “Supporter,” symbolizing its versatile role.
The Ministry of Defence and L&T Shipyard signed the contract for two MPVs on March 25, 2022.
The vessels will perform various tasks, including towing, launching targets, operating unmanned vehicles, and testing indigenous weapons.
Samarthak is 106 meters long, 16.8 meters wide, and can achieve a maximum speed of 15 knots.
The launch highlights the Indian Navy’s commitment to indigenous shipbuilding and maritime self-reliance.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has arrived in Islamabad to represent India at the 23rd SCO Council of Heads of Government meeting.
