INS Magar Decommissioned After 36 Years of Service.
INS Magar, the oldest Landing Ship Tank (Large), was decommissioned by the Indian Navy after 36 years of service on May 06 at the Naval base in Kochi.
The decommissioning ceremony was attended by Vice Admiral MA Hampiholi, Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command, as well as Air Marshal B Manikantan, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Air Command. Commander Hemant Salunkhe commanded the ship during its service.

The ship was launched on November 16, 1984, by Meera Tahiliani and commissioned by late Admiral R H Tahiliani on July 18, 1987, at Garden Reach Shipyard and Engineers Limited, Kolkata.

The long-awaited dream of Northern Andhra people for aerial connectivity will soon come to fruition as Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy laid the foundation for the Bhogapuram Greenfield International Airport today.
The estimated cost of the project is Rs 4,592 crore. The airport is located about 50 km from the coastal city of Visakhapatnam in Vizianagaram district.

Indian weightlifter, Bindyarani Devi has won the silver in the women’s 55kg category at the Asian Weightlifting Championships 2023, held in South Korea.
Chen Guan Ling (China) won the gold medal.
Indian weightlifter Jeremy Lalrinnunga won the silver medal in the snatch event at the Asian Weightlifting Championship held in Jinju, Korea (67kg).

The state government has given the green signal to the project of setting up the state’s first Pharma Park in the Lalitpur district of Bundelkhand.
For this, the state government will transfer 1500 hectares of land in the Lalitpur district to the Animal Husbandry Department.
The state government will spend Rs 1560 crore for development works and providing necessary facilities to the investors in Lalitpur Pharma Park.
First Medical Device Park in Gautam Buddha Nagar.
The Uttar Pradesh government is setting up a medical device park on 350 acres of land at the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YIDA) in Gautam Buddha Nagar.

The 42nd ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings will take place in Labuan Bajo on 9-11 May. The event is hosted by Indonesia as the 2023 ASEAN Chair.

Secretary-General of ASEAN Dr Kao Kim Hourn will lead the ASEAN Secretariat delegation to the Summit.
Dr Kao will also attend the ASEAN Leaders’ Interface with Representatives of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, ASEAN Youth, ASEAN Business Advisory Council, and with the High-Level Task Force on ASEAN Community’s Post-2025 vision.

MakeMyTrip, one of India’s leading online travel companies, is testing a voice-assisted booking solution to cater to customers who struggle with mobile phones or computers.
To develop this innovative technology, MakeMyTrip has teamed up with Microsoft, leveraging the Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service and Azure Cognitive Services to power the in-platform tech stack.
Initially, a select group of MakeMyTrip users will have access to the voice-assisted feature in English and Hindi.
The company plans to extend the platform to other Indian languages, such as Bhojpuri and various southern dialects, shortly.

The trailer of ‘Love in 90s’, the first film made in the Tagin language of Arunachal Pradesh, was launched by Union Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju on 6th May in New Delhi.
The film depicts the vibrant and colourful world of the 90s, based on the Tagin community in the Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh and the first film made entirely in Tagin language.
Directed by Tapen Natam Through this film, viewers can witness the beauty and rich heritage of Tagine culture and traditions.

INS Imphal is the Indian Navy’s 3rd indigenous stealth destroyer of the Project 15B class.
The vessel recently took the maiden sea sortie.
INS Imphal is the third ship of the Visakhapatnam-class stealth-guided missile destroyer of the Indian Navy. It is being constructed at Mazagon Dock Limited (MDL).

Japan has decided to provide specialized training to 1,000 Indian engineers ahead of starting work on the high-speed rail track system for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor (MAHSR).
National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has signed an MoU with Japan Railway Technical Service (JARTS) to operationalize bullet trains in the country.
Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor (MAHSR): The total length of the corridor between Ahmedabad and Mumbai is 508 km, of which 348 km falls in Gujarat and 156 km in Maharashtra.
The remaining four kilometres will fall in Dadra Nagar Haveli.
