The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India, Girish Chandra Murmu has been re-elected as the External Auditor of the World Health Organisation (WHO) for a four-year term (2024-2027).
The CAG is already holding this position in the WHO for a four-year term (2019-2023).
In the election held at the 76th World Health Assembly in Geneva, the CAG was re-elected with a majority of 114 out of 156 votes. Earlier, the CAG was selected as an External Auditor of the ILO.

First Vande Bharat Express Train of Northeast: Features
• It is the first of its kind premium semi-high speed aesthetically designed, well-equipped fully Air Conditioner service between Guwahati in Assam and New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal.
• The Guwahati- NJP Vande Bharat Express train service will operate six days a week. There will be no service on this train.
• This will be the fastest train in this sector and will benefit IT professionals, businessmen, students, and tourists.
• The train will stop at Kamakhya, New Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, New Alipurduar, and New Coochbehar and culminate at NJP.
• This will be the third Vande Bharat for West Bengal after the Howrah-NJP Vande Bharat Express and the Howrah-Puri Vande Bharat Express.
• After the inauguration of Assam’s Vande Bharat, India will operationalize Vande Bharat Express trains on 19 routes across the country.

Goa is celebrating its 35th Foundation Day today. On the 30th of May in 1987, Goa got its full statehood.
Goa remained under Portuguese rule even after 14 years of India’s independence.
Goa was liberated from the Portuguese on 19th December 1961.
A grand ceremony was arranged today at Raj Bhavan in Dona Paula. Governor P.S. Sreedharan Pillai, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, and Union Minister Sripad Naik were among the dignitaries present on this occasion.
The Governor greeted Goans and congratulated the Government for the developments achieved by the state.

The Naveen Patnaik-led Odisha government Monday announced a new initiative, Mo Ghara (My Home) – a credit-linked housing scheme for rural poor in the state to convert all kutcha houses into pucca ones – a promise made by the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in its 2019 election manifesto.

The announcement, following a meeting of the state cabinet, marked the completion of the fourth year of the fifth term of the BJD government.
The scheme is set to benefit around four lakh families.

India registered victory against Kazakhstan in the final of the National Sports Council-Central Asian Volleyball Association (NSC-CAVA) Women’s Volleyball Challenge Cup held in Nepal’s capital Kathmandu on Sunday.
In the final and 20th game of the challenge cup held at the covered hall in Tripureshwor, Kathmandu on Sunday, India clinched the title in a shared set of 3-0.
India registered a win against Kazakhstan winning the first set with 25-15, the second set with 25-22 and the third set with 25-18. In addition, India finished the competition by remaining undefeated.

Congress MP from Chandrapur Lok Sabha constituency of Maharashtra, Balu alias Suresh Dhanorkar passed away. In 2014, he was elected as an MLA of Shiv Sena, winning the Warora Bhadrawati Assembly seat.
He resigned from the Shiv Sena in 2019 and was elected as a Congress MP from Chandrapur Vani Arni Lok Sabha constituency.
His wife Pratibha Dhanorkar is also a Congress MLA from the Varora constituency.

The Roads and Transport Authority of Dubai has set a target to achieve zero-emissions public transportation by 2050.

ISRO Chairman S Somnath has announced that Chandrayaan-3, the successor of Chandrayaan-2, will be launched in July this year.
The announcement was made after the successful launch of the second-generation navigation satellite NSV-01 from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota.
The primary objective of Chandrayaan-3 is to demonstrate India’s end-to-end capabilities in lunar exploration and its ability to safely land on and orbit the Moon.
The mission will consist of an indigenous lander module, a propulsion module and a rover.
The lander and the rover will be equipped with scientific payloads, enabling them to conduct experiments and collect valuable data on the lunar surface.

Equitas Small Finance Bank has signed an agreement with IBM Consulting to design and build a digital banking platform to provide customers with a secure experience, the bank said on Saturday.
The collaboration between the two entities aims at boosting the digital products offered by Equitas as well as its service offerings, as it evolves its business for a digital-first generation, a press release from the bank said.

Equitas Small Finance Bank is a small finance bank founded in 2016 as a microfinance lender. The bank’s headquarters in Chennai is a subsidiary of the holding company Equitas Holdings Ltd.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Heads of State is all set to take place in July, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a virtual format, according to the statement released by SCO.
Under India’s leadership, the SCO Council of Heads of State will be held in a virtual format on July 4, 2023.
The SCO membership includes Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan besides India. Apart from the member states, two observer countries Belarus and Iran.

Bola Tinubu, from Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress party, has been sworn in as the new President of Nigeria. Recently, he defeated former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
The swearing ceremony was attended by the Indian defence minister, Rajnath Singh, who is on a three-day visit to Nigeria.
