Anshuman Gaekwad, a former Indian Test cricketer, released his semi-autobiographical book titled “Guts Amidst Bloodbath” at the Cricket Club of India (CCI). The occasion was graced by six former India cricket captains, namely Sachin Tendulkar, Gundapa Vishwanath, Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Vengsarkar, Ravi Shastri, and Kapil Dev. These legendary cricketers shared anecdotes and praised Gaekwad for his contributions to the sport.

In addition to the former captains, several other prominent figures from the cricketing world were present. BCCI President Roger Binny, Yajurvindra Singh, Karsan Ghavri, Zaheer Khan, Abey Kuruvilla, and Nayan Mongia were among the attendees, showcasing their support for Gaekwad and the book.

Indian IT services company Wipro announced in a release that the company has expanded its partnership with Google Cloud to bring generative artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to its clients across the world. The company also noted that it will train 20,000 of its associates on Google Cloud’s generative AI technologies.
The IT company said in a statement, “Together with Google Cloud, Wipro will build and deploy new generative AI solutions to help enterprises tackle unique industry challenges, while also improving common enterprise functions such as consumer experiences, marketing, supply chain performance, financial modelling, workforce management, and sustainability.”

Dr K. Govindaraj was elected as the President of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), Asia. He is a Congress MLC.
He is also the President of the Basketball Federation of India and President of the Karnataka Olympic Association. Govindaraj was unanimously nominated to take over as President of FIBA Asia.
This is the first time that an Indian has been nominated as the President of FIBA Asia.
The nomination was ratified at the FIBA Asia Congress making Govindaraj, the first Indian to lead the International Basketball Federation in Asia, which includes 44 countries.

Rajasthan Chief Minister recently inaugurated ‘Jungle Safari’ at Jaisamand Wildlife Sanctuary.
Jaisamand Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the Udaipur district of Rajasthan surrounding Debar Lake (Jaisamand Lake).
The forest of the Sanctuary used to be a Shikargah (Game Reserve) of the erstwhile Maharanas of Mewar. It was declared a Wildlife Sanctuary in the year 1957.
The flora of this Sanctuary comprises of thickly wooded forests of mainly Teak wood. Debar Lake (Jaisamand Lake): It is renowned for being the second-largest artificial lake in Asia. In 1685, Maharana Jai Singh built this lake while making a dam on the Gomti River.

Ireland will introduce mandatory health labelling of alcoholic drinks, warning of the links to cancer, liver disease and the risk of drinking while pregnant.
The new regulations, signed into law by health minister Stephen Donnelly, will take effect in three years to give businesses time to prepare for the change.
It will also alert consumers to the calorie and alcohol content. Ireland is the first country in the European Union (EU) to ensure that, from 2026, all alcohol products will have comprehensive labelling about health risks from consumption, including warnings about the risks of developing cancers.

One of the most talked about development in the past week has been the inauguration of the newly built Parliament, which is scheduled for May 28.

And now the government has revealed that it will issue a dedicatory coin with the denomination of Rs 75 to celebrate the opening of the building.
The front side of the coin will feature the Lion Capital of the Ashoka Pillar with `Satyamev Jayate` written below it. On the left side `Bharat` will be written in Devanagari script while on the right side, India will be written in English.
It will also feature the symbol of the Rupee and 75 written in international numerals.

The state-owned Bank of Maharashtra (BoM) has emerged as the top performer among public sector institutions, in terms of loan and deposit growth in percentage terms during 2022-23.
The Pune-based lender also saw the greatest increase in profitability, with its bottom line increasing by over 126 per cent to Rs 2,602 crore during the year.

According to reported yearly data of public sector banks (PSBs), all 12 public sector banks recorded a 57 per cent increase in net profit at Rs 1,04,649 crore in FY23.
In terms of the percentage rise in gross advances, the Bank of Maharashtra registered a 29.4 per cent increase in loans at Rsw 1, 75,120 crore as of March 2023. It was followed by Indian Overseas Bank and UCO Bank, which grew by 21.2 per cent and 20.6 per cent, respectively.

The Centre on Friday notified the appointment of Justice R.D. Dhanuka as the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court.
He will demit office on May 30 and thus will have a tenure of only four days as the Chief Justice.
The Centre also notified the appointment of Acting Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court SV Gangapurwala as Chief Justice of the Madras High Court. The development has come after the Supreme Court collegium on April 19 recommended the names of Justice Dhanuka and Justice Gangapurwala as the heads of the high courts.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister flagged off Mission Har Shikhar Tiranga, from NIMAS, Dirang.
o Har Shikhar Tiranga (HST) Mission is a unique expedition to hoist the national flag on the highest point of every state of India for the first time.
o It is a campaign under the aegis of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to take the tricolour to all the states of the country and hoist it on the summits to mark the 75th year of independence and to commemorate India’s G20 presidentship.

A day ahead of the beginning of the first National Rowing championships on Saturday, excitement was palpable on Friday at the Water Sports Complex (Ramgarh Lake), the venue for rowing under the Khelo India University Games in Gorakhpur.

The stage has been set for a dazzling start as rowing will make its debut in KIUG on the home turf of chief minister Yogi Adityanath.
