Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) under the Union Health Ministry successfully conducted a trial run of blood bag delivery by drones under its i-Drone initiative in New Delhi.
The inaugural trial flight carried ten units of blood samples from the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Greater Noida, and Lady Hardinge Medical College (LHMC), New Delhi.
The project ‘i-DRONE’(ICMR’s Drone Response and Outreach for North East) assessed the feasibility of using drones to deliver vaccines and medical supplies.

In a major relief, India’s inflation eases to an 18-month low, reaching 4.7% in April 2023.
This would be for the first time since January 2022 that the consumer price index (CPI) eased below RBI’s upper tolerance limit.
In April 2023, CPI stood at 4.7% against 5.66% in March 2023 and 7.79% in the same month a year ago.
The sharp decline in inflation figures can be attributed to the high base and softening of vegetable prices and energy prices. This is in line with expectations.

The first Ministerial meeting of the India-EU Trade and Technology Council will be held in Brussels on 16th May. The meeting will be co-chaired on the Indian side by the Ministers for External Affairs, Commerce and Industry, and Communications, Electronics, and Information Technology.

The Reserve Bank of India on Friday said it has imposed a penalty of Rs 2.92 crore on Canara Bank for violation of various norms, including linking interest rates to external benchmarks and opening savings accounts of ineligible entities.
This action is based on the deficiencies in regulatory compliance and is not intended to pronounce upon the validity of any transaction or agreement entered into by the bank with its customers, the RBI said in a statement.
The statutory inspection for supervisory evaluation (lSE) of the bank was conducted by RBI with reference to its financial position as on March 31, 2021. A scrutiny of the bank was carried out by RBI in July 2020 based on a high-value fraud reported by another bank, it noted.

Canara Bank is an Indian public sector bank based in Bangalore. Established in 1906 at Mangalore by Ammembal Subba Rao Pai, the bank was nationalized in 1969. Outside India, the bank has offices in London, Dubai and New York.
