The Directorate of Tourism, Jammu and Kishtwar Tourism Development Authority (KTDA) a two-day Sinthan Snow Festival-2023 at Sinthan Maidan, Kishtwar from today to the 30th of April. The snow festival is being organized in collaboration with the District Administration Kishtwar, the Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages (JKAACL), and the Army.
Locals as well as tourists are upbeat over the event which shall feature musical performances, adventure activities, and various competitions.

The 2-day Sinthan Snow Festival-2023 will host a variety of activities like a Bike Rally, Paragliding, Snow Kayaking, Fun Snow activities, Local cultural performances, and much more.

Russian lender Sberbank (SBER.MM) said on Monday it had released a technology called GigaChat as a rival to ChatGPT, initially in an invite-only testing mode, joining the artificial intelligence chatbot race.
The release last year of ChatGPT, a chatbot from the Microsoft-backed (MSFT.O) startup OpenAI, has caused a sprint in the technology sector to put AI into more users’ hands. The hope is to reshape how people work and win business in the process.

What is the PRET initiative?
• The Preparedness and Resilience for Emerging Threats (PRET) Initiative has been launched by the World Health Organisation to be better prepared for future disease outbreaks similar to the Covid-19 pandemic.
• The PRET Initiative is aimed at providing guidance to countries on the integrated planning required for responding to respiratory pathogens such as coronaviruses and influenza.
• It was announced at the Global Meeting for Future Respiratory Pathogen Pandemics that was held from 24th to 26th April 2023 in Geneva, Switzerland.
• The Initiative aims to help countries ensure better management of their response to pandemics and their recovery by supporting the strengthening of systems and capacities.
• The PRET initiative has emphasized coherency and efficiency over the isolated or siloed approach that had been adopted by countries prior to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated 91 new 100W FM transmitters across the country to boost radio connectivity, with his flagship broadcast set to complete 100 episodes on April 30.

“The beginning of 91 FM transmitters by All India Radio is like a present for 85 districts and 2 crore people of the nation. The districts covered under the new 91 FM transmitters are aspirational districts and blocks. He congratulated All India Radio for the momentous achievement”.

In an attempt to strengthen the nursing workforce in the country, on Wednesday (April 26), the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the establishment of 157 new nursing colleges with a budget outlay of Rs. 1,570 crores.
These nursing colleges will be in co-location with the existing medical colleges established since 2014.
Rs. 10 crore will be spent on building each college, and the 157 colleges will be ready in the next 24 months, said Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya while addressing the media.
