Swami Smaranananda Maharaj was born in Andami village, Thanjavur district, Tamil Nadu, in 1929.
He was elected as the President of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission during a meeting of the Math’s Board of Trustees and the Mission’s Governing Body on July 17, 2017.
He is the 16th President of the Order, according to the official website of Belur Math.
Swami Smaranananda had a keen interest in literature, particularly English literary works and self-help books by Napoleon Hill.
He was also deeply influenced by Mahatma Gandhi’s teachings.
In 1991, he assumed leadership at the Ramakrishna Math in Chennai, overseeing the construction of the Sri Ramakrishna Temple there.

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd. (APSEZ) announced the acquisition of Gopalpur Port Ltd. (GPL).
APSEZ entered into a definitive agreement to purchase a 56% stake from the Shapoorji Pallonji Group and a 39% stake from Orissa Stevedores Ltd. (OSL) in GPL.
The acquisition will enable APSEZ to offer more integrated and enhanced solutions to its customers.
Gopalpur Port is situated on the east coast of India and has a handling capacity of 20 MMTPA.
The port deals with a variety of dry bulk cargo, including iron ore, coal, limestone, ilmenite, and alumina.

Tata Cummins Private Limited (TCPL) inaugurated the factory in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand.
The factory is dedicated to producing hydrogen-based internal combustion engines for medium and heavy commercial vehicles.
Spread across approximately seven acres, it was established quickly within a year following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Jharkhand government.
Alongside engines, the factory is set to manufacture products featuring low to zero-emission technologies.
TCPL is a collaborative venture between Tata Motors Limited and Cummins Inc., USA.
In March 2023, TCPL Green Energy Solutions (TCPL GES) was formed as a subsidiary to focus on developing low and zero-emission propulsion technology solutions.
