India’s Lovlina Borgohain defeated Australia’s Caitlin Parker in the 75kg final to win the gold medal at the World Women’s Boxing Championship.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ‘Call Before u Dig’ (CBuD) app, to facilitate coordination between excavation agencies and underground utility owners to prevent damage to utilities due to digging.

The Call Before u Dig mobile application, an initiative of the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, aims to prevent damage to underlying assets like optical fibre cables that occurs because of uncoordinated digging and excavation, leading to losses of about Rs 3,000 crore every year, according to a Press Information Bureau (PIB) release.

The much-delayed passenger ferry service between Sri Lanka and India is set to start by the end of April, Civil Aviation Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva said on Sunday.
“On April 29, the ferry service between Karaikal and Kankesanthurai in port in Jaffna district would begin. Each passenger would be allowed a 100 kg baggage allowance at a very concessionary rate,” the minister said.
De Silva said the opportunity would be open to any passenger ferry operator of both countries to run the service.
A passenger terminal is being built by the Sri Lanka Navy at Kankesanthurai.
