Soundararajan served as the second Governor of Telangana state.

Article 153 says that there shall be a Governor for each State. One person can be appointed as Governor for two or more States.
Article 157 and Article 158 of the Constitution of India specify eligibility requirements for the post of governor.

Senior bureaucrat Rahul Singh has recently been appointed Chairman of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) by the Central Government.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Singh, a 1996 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Bihar cadre, as the Chairman of CBSE.
He will replace Nidhi Chhibber, who has been named advisor in NITI Aayog.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is India’s national secondary school board, which oversees both public and private institutions.
Established in 1929, The Board was a government-sponsored experiment in interstate integration and cooperation in secondary education.
More than 27,000 schools in India and 240 institutions in 28 other countries are affiliated with the CBSE.
All CBSE-affiliated institutions use the NCERT curriculum, especially in grades 9 through 12.

Union Minister of Tribal Affairs and Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Arjun Munda recently laid the foundation stone of ‘Centre for Preservation and Promotion of Tribal Culture and Heritage’ in Kharsawan district of Jharkhand through virtual medium.
A budget of Rs 10 crore has been allocated for the establishment of this center.
In another event, Shri Arjun Munda inaugurated the recently renovated National Unique Tribal Museum, e-Library, and ST Girls’ Hostel funded by the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs at Bharatiya Adim Jati Sevak Sanghathan (BAJSS), in New Delhi.

10th edition of Joint Military Exercise ‘LAMITIYE-2024’ in Seychelles.
The Joint Exercise between the Indian Army and Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF) will be conducted at Seychelles from March 18-27.
‘LAMITIYE’ meaning ‘Friendship’ in the Creole language is a biennial training event and has been conducted in the Seychelles since 2001.
The exercise will enhance cooperation and interoperability between both sides during peacekeeping operations.

J&K government approves 10% reservation for Paharis, new tribes.
Jammu & Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha has given the green light to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Rules, 2005.
The amendment includes a provision for 10% reservation for newly-included tribes such as Paharis in the Schedule Tribe (ST) category.
Additionally, 15 new castes have been added to the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) as part of the approved proposal by the Social Welfare Department.

The Pahari people or Pahari-speaking people is a cover term for a number of heterogeneous communities inhabiting Jammu and Kashmir and also some parts of Pakistan-administered Azad Kashmir who speak Pahari languages/dialects.
ST status was granted to Pahari Speaking People’ (who speak Pothowari dialects that fall under Lahnda Western Punjabi) through an Act passed by Parliament.
On 26 July 2023, the bill to add Pahari Ethnic Group along with the Paddari Tribe, Koli, and Gadda Brahman in the existing list of scheduled tribes in Jammu and Kashmir was introduced in the Lok Sabha.
