India emerged as the World’s 2nd largest producer of crude steel
Union Minister of Steel and Civil Aviation, Sh. Jyotiraditya M. Scindia has stated that India has moved from 4th largest producer of crude steel to the second largest producer of crude steel from 2014-15 to 2022-23 standing just behind China, the world’s largest exporter of crude steel.
India has reported a hike of 42% in Crude steel production from 88.98 MT(Metric ton) in 2014-15 to 126.26 MT in 2022-23.

Union Minister for Health, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya has unveiled the 5th State Food Safety Index on the occasion of World Food Safety Day 2023.
Kerala secured the top ranking among the larger states, followed by Punjab and Tamil Nadu.
Smaller states: Goa, Manipur, and Sikkim UTs: J&K, Delhi, and Chandigarh The index has evaluated the performance of states and UTs across six different aspects of food safety.
He has also unveiled Rapid Food Testing Kit (RAFT) portal.

Gitanjali Aiyar, one of India’s first English female news presenters on national broadcaster Doordarshan, passed away. Aiyar joined Doordarshan in 1971 and was awarded the best anchor four times.
She also won the Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini Award for Outstanding Women in 1989.
She had also been a popular face in several print advertisements and even acted in Sridhar Kshirsagar’s TV drama “Khandaan”.

In its second bi-monthly monetary policy meeting of FY24, the RBI’s Monetary Policy Committee has kept the repo rate unchanged at 6.5%.
The RBI also retained the FY24 GDP growth forecast at 6.5% while expecting FY24 CPI inflation to be at 5.1% (from 5.2%). Other rates:

In the global ranking, Mumbai has been positioned at 147, New Delhi (169), Chennai (184), Bengaluru (189), and Pune (213).
Hong Kong and Singapore are the most expensive cities for international employees this year.

The Andhra Pradesh government has informed that the central government has agreed to sanction Rs 12,911 crore to Andhra Pradesh for completing the first phase of the Polavaram Project.
The sanctioned amount of Rs 12,911 crore also includes Rs 2,000 crore for the construction of the diaphragm wall, which was washed away due to the flood.
Polavaram Project is an under-construction multi-purpose irrigation project on the Godavari River in Andhra Pradesh.
Diaphragm walls are underground structural elements commonly used as retention systems and permanent foundation walls.

Indigenous Heavyweight Torpedo Varunastra

In a significant achievement for the Indian Navy, the indigenously designed and developed heavyweight torpedo Varunastra has successfully demonstrated its effectiveness in a live test. Created by the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL) under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), and manufactured by Bharat Dynamics Ltd (BDL), Varunastra combines advanced features such as low drift navigational systems, acoustic homing, and autonomous guidance algorithms.

Germany is preparing to host the biggest air deployment exercise in NATO’s history, a show of force intended to impress allies and potential adversaries such as Russia.
The Air Defender 23 exercise starting next week will see 10,000 participants and 250 aircraft from 25 nations respond to a simulated attack on a NATO member country.

Air Defender 2023 is a significant event, and it is a sign of NATO’s commitment to the defense of its members.
The exercise will help to ensure that NATO is ready to meet any challenge to its security.

A huge Soviet-era dam on the Dnipro River in southern Ukraine, known as the Kakhovka Dam, was breached, resulting in flooding across the war zone.
The dam was an important part of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant, supplying water to the Crimean Peninsula and the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant.
Crimea is a peninsula in Eastern Europe, on the northern coast of the Black Sea, almost surrounded by the Black Sea and the smaller Sea of Azov.

In Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister’s Learn and Earn scheme – will be launched to teach employable skills to the youth. In the scheme, 703 work areas have been identified for training.

The most important aspect of this learn-and-earn scheme is that along with learning skills, the youth will also be given an allowance of Rs 8,000 to 10,000.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said in the capital Bhopal that the government is Indi youth with employment.

The I am Adyar, Adyar is me’ campaign has handpicked 40 compelling stories of individuals, which are showcased in an exclusive exhibition at the Adyar branch of Federal Bank.

This art exhibition will run for two weeks between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

The campaign is a first-of-its-kind micro-marketing initiative in the banking industry, which is aimed to showcase the soul of Adyar, including its people’s struggles and triumphs which make it special.

The Himachal Pradesh government has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with OIL India Limited to establish a hydrogen production plant in the state.
This significant development was announced by the Chief Minister during the ‘Enviro-Ideation Hackathon’ organized by the Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the government is actively promoting the production of green hydrogen and has taken a step forward by signing an agreement with Oil India Limited. Israel introduces digital birth certificates
Israel Government has introduced a digital birth certificate for someone who was born in Israel for free.
The service allows parents to receive the birth certificate immediately as a digital file via email or mobile device app.
The Authority said the new service will allow the public to receive the birth certificate immediately as a digital file sent by email or by mobile device app, without the need for people to personally go down to a government office to take care of this or to wait for the document to arrive in the mail.
The new service eliminates the need for people to personally go to a government office to obtain the document.
