Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur has successfully conducted a test flight for cloud seeding.
Cloud seeding involves using various chemical agents such as silver iodide, dry ice, common salt, and other elements to enhance the probability of rain.
The project was initiated a few years ago and is headed by the Computer Science and Engineering Department of IIT Kanpur.
The flight went up to an approximate height of 5,000 feet. It landed on the IIT Kanpur lab airstrip after completing the test ride.

The Reserve Bank of India on Monday imposed a monetary penalty on Standard Chartered Bank-India over KYC non-compliance. The bank allotted multiple customer identification codes to some of its customers, as per the RBI for which it slapped a Rs 30 lakh penalty on the lender.
“The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has, by an order dated June 26, 2023, imposed a monetary penalty of Rs 30.00 lakh (Rupees Thirty Lakh only) on Standard Chartered Bank-India (the bank) for non-compliance with certain provisions of the ‘Reserve Bank of India (Know Your Customer (KYC)) Directions, 2016’.
This penalty has been imposed in exercise of powers vested in RBI conferred under the provisions of section 47 A (1) (c) read with section 46 (4) (i) of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949,” it said in a statement.
