According to the Armed Forces Medical Service, four of its officers have won a record 32 medals at the 43rd World Medical and Health Games held in Saint-Tropez, France.
The annual World Medical and Health Games also popularly known as the Medgames is the world’s largest sporting event for the medical and health professions around the world.
The first Medgames was held in 1978 in Cannes, France.
Lieutenant Colonel Sanjeev Malik, Major Anish George, Captain Stephen Sebastian, and Captain Dania James of the Armed Forces Medical Services won a record 32 medals for India at the Saint-Tropez Medgames. Together, they won 19 gold medals, 9 silver medals, and 4 bronze Medals.

22-year old Dhiraj Bommadevara won two bronze medals for India at the Archery World Cup 2024 stage 3 in Antalya, Turkiye.
The Indian team finished their campaign at Antalya with four medals- one gold, one silver, and two bronze.
The Archery World Cup 2024 stage 3 was organized by the World Archery at Antalya, Turkey.
The 21-year-old Priyansh lost to World No.1 Dutchman Mike Schloesser in the final of the men’s individual compound event.
The first Archery World Cup in the present format was organised by the world archery governing body World Archery in 2006
Since then it has been organised annually and the 2024 event is the 18th in the series.

Sreeja Akula of Hyderabad became the first Indian table tennis player to win a WTT (World Table Tennis) Contender single title.
Sreeja Akula won both the women’s singles and doubles titles at the WTT Contender Lagos 2024 event.
The USD 80,000 prize money WTT Contender Lagos 2024 was held at the Sir Molade Okoya Thomas Indoor Sports Hall in Lagos, Nigeria.
India’s number one ranked women’s singles table tennis player, Sreeja Akula, defeated the 16-year-old Yijie Ding of China.
Sreeja Akula defeated fellow Indian Sutirtha Mukherjee in the semifinal to reach the finals of the WTT Contender Lagos 2024.

India and Bangladesh have agreed to strengthen their bilateral relationship by extending their partnership in connectivity, infrastructure, and energy.
This was agreed to by both countries after the conclusion of the two-day visit of the Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit to India in June 2024.
India and Bangladesh signed 10 new memorandum of understanding (MOU) after the end of Sheikh Hasina’s visit to further cooperation in the fields of connectivity, energy, Infrastructure, and other areas.
A Joint Technical Committee will be set up to renew the Ganges Water Sharing Treaty of 1996. The Ganga water-sharing treaty is valid till 2026.
India and Bangladesh share 54 rivers.

Indian Army has opened the Khalubar War Memorial in Ladakh, commemorating the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas.
It is located in Aryan Valley, the memorial honors the bravery of soldiers, including Captain Manoj Pandey, who recaptured the area during the Kargil War.
The opening ceremony included a ‘Trek to Battle Site’ led by Brig OP Yadav (Retd).

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has introduced two new standards, IS 18590: 2024 and IS 18606: 2024, aimed at enhancing the safety and quality of electric vehicles (EVs) in the L, M, and N categories.
These standards focus on critical components such as the powertrain and batteries, ensuring they meet stringent safety and performance requirements.
Additionally, BIS has introduced IS 18294: 2023 for e-rickshaws and e-karts, covering their construction and functionality to ensure the safety of drivers and passengers.

Uttar Pradesh is set to establish the world’s first conservation and breeding center for Asian king vultures or red-headed vultures in Maharajganj.
The facility will improve the population of critically endangered species listed in the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s red list since 2007.
The center is named Jatayu Conservation and Breeding Centre.
This is one of the 9 species of Vulture which are found in India.
It is also called the Asian King vulture or Pondicherry Vulture. It was extensively found in India but its numbers drastically reduced after diclofenac poisoning.

Olympic bronze medalist wrestler Bajrang Punia has been suspended by the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) for a second time for refusing to provide a urine sample during selection trials.
This suspension comes after NADA revoked his previous suspension due to procedural issues.
Punia’s legal team plans to challenge the suspension, arguing he did not refuse to provide a sample but sought clarification on expired kits used previously.
