The PM-Kisan Mobile App with Face Authentication Feature was launched by Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shri Narendra Singh Tomar under the central government’s ambitious and popular scheme for income support to farmers “Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi”.
The best example of modern technology using the Face Authentication Feature from this app farmers can complete e-KYC remotely, sitting at home easily by scanning their faces without OTP or fingerprint and helping 100 other farmers to do e-KYC at their homes.
Recognizing the need to make e-KYC mandatory, the Government of India has extended the ability of farmers to perform e-KYC to officers of state governments, so that each officer can complete the e-KYC process for 500 farmers.

Apple Inc is planning to launch its credit card in India, also known as Apple Card. The iPhone maker is planning to tie up with HDFC bank to bring its credit card to its Indian customers.

According to the Global Liveability Index 2023 published by the Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU), Vienna in Austria has topped the ranking of the most liveable cities.

From India, New Delhi and Mumbai are at 141st position and Chennai at 144th.

Digi Yatra app user base crosses the one million mark

The number of passengers who have travelled using Digi Yatra reaches 1.74 million by 21st June 2023.

Varanasi witnesses the highest percentage of passengers using this facility followed by Vijayawada.
The number of passengers who have installed the Digi Yatra application on their mobile phones has crossed one million this week.
Since its inauguration by Minister of Civil Aviation and Steel Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia on 1st December 2022, 1.746 million people have used this facility.

Bharat Electronics (BEL) has received orders worth Rs 5,900 crore.
The bulk of the orders, amounting to Rs 3,914 crore, has been received for the Akash Weapon System, which is a short-range surface-to-air missile air defence system.
The improvements incorporated in AWS include high altitude operation, simultaneous engagement of multiple threats over 360 degrees, missiles fitted with RF Seeker, and reduced footprint orders valued at Rs 1,984 crore”.

The Central government has allocated ₹145 crores to Nagaland for the construction of a Unity Mall in Dimapur. Funds parked by Indian individuals and firms in Swiss banks, including through India-based branches and other financial institutions, jumped to a 14-year-high of 3.83 billion Swiss francs (over Rs 30,500 crore) in 2021, according to annual data from Switzerland’s central bank.
The rise in aggregate funds of Indian clients with Swiss banks, from 2.55 billion Swiss francs (Rs 20,700 crore) at the end of 2020, marks the second consecutive year of increase.
The UK has topped the charts for foreign clients’ money in Swiss banks at CHF 379 billion, followed by the US (CHF 168 billion) in second place – the only two countries with 100-billion-plus client funds.
Others in the top 10 were West Indies, Germany, France, Singapore, Hong Kong, Luxembourg, Bahamas, the Netherlands, Cayman Islands and Cyprus respectively.
India was placed at 44th place, ahead of countries like Poland, South Korea, Sweden, Bahrain, Oman, New Zealand, Norway, Mauritius, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Hungary and Finland.
In BRICS nations, India stood below Russia (15th place) and China (24th), but above South Africa and Brazil.

L&T, DRDO signs contract to build AIP modules for Indian Navy submarines
Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on 22 June 2023 signed a contract for the realization of two air-independent propulsion (AIP) system modules for Kalvari-class submarines of the Indian Navy.

The modules constitute the core of the fuel cell-based AIP System, which is indigenously developed by the Naval Materials Research Laboratory (NMRL) of DRDO with L&T as an industry partner. The energy modules (EMs) comprising fuel cells will produce the required power, along with on-demand hydrogen generation on the submarine.

The Union Ministry of Environment has granted the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) clearance, with 15 conditions, for the Tamil Nadu government’s proposal to construct the Muthamizh Arignar Dr Kalaignar pen monument in the Bay of Bengal, off the Marina beach in Chennai.

With this final approval, the State government can start implementing its proposal.

In its letter to the Public Works Department (PWD) on June 19, the Union Ministry said the CRZ clearance was provided based on the recommendations of the Expert Appraisal Committee (CRZ) and the Tamil Nadu Coastal Zone Management Authority.

The Punjab Assembly on June 20 passed the Sikh Gurdwaras (Amendment) Bill, 2023 to ensure free telecast of ‘Gurbani’ from the Golden Temple in Amritsar.

Gurbani is a term commonly used by Sikhs to refer to various compositions by the Sikh Gurus and other writers of Guru Granth Sahib.
The Bill was immediately taken up for discussion.
On Monday, the Punjab Cabinet approved an amendment to the British-era Sikh Gurdwaras Act, 1925 to ensure a free-to-air telecast of Gurbani from Amritsar’s Golden Temple.
