The United Nations recognized June 21 as International Yoga Day in 2014, and this year marks the ninth anniversary of the global celebration.

Oncologist Dr P. Raghu Ram from the city has been selected for an honorary fellowship by American Surgical Association.

The exercise was inaugurated by Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, the President of Mongolia, in a grand ceremony. This reflects the significance of the exercise and highlights the commitment of Mongolia towards international peacekeeping efforts.
“Ex Khaan Quest 2023” is co-sponsored by the Mongolian Armed Forces (MAF) and the United States Army Pacific Command (USARPAC). This collaboration demonstrates the strong partnership between Mongolia and the United States in promoting regional security and stability.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has selected State Bank of India Managing Director Swaminathan Janakiraman for the post of Deputy Governor in the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
Mr Janakiraman’s appointment was notified by the Department of Personnel and Training on Tuesday.
He would have a tenure of three years from the date of joining, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
He will replace Deputy Governor M.K. Jain whose tenure will end this month.
Mr Jain, the former chief of IDBI Bank and Indian Bank, was appointed to the critical RBI role in 2018.

Remains of a species of herbivorous dinosaur previously unknown in the southern hemisphere have been discovered in Chile, challenging long-held beliefs about the range of duck-billed dinosaurs.
Measuring up to four meters (13 feet) in length and weighing a ton, Gonkoken Nano lived 72 million years ago in the extreme south of what is now Chilean Patagonia.
The discovery demonstrated that Chilean Patagonia served as a refuge for very ancient species of hadrosaurs, a type of duck-billed dinosaur common in North America, Asia and Europe during the Cretaceous period, from 145 to 66 million years ago.

Renowned sociologist, author, and former professor of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) Imtiaz Ahmad passed away here on Monday. He was 83. He was under treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. Prof. Ahmad is known for his works on caste in Islam. He worked with a keen interest in social anthropology and taught Sociology, Political Science, and Islamic Studies at various universities in India and abroad.
