The European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) started Global Wind Day in 2007. This initiative aimed to make wind energy a popular alternative energy resource.
2009 the EWEA collaborated with the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), making it a global event.
Global Wind Day or National Wind Day is an annual worldwide event which falls on June 15.
It is a day for discovering wind, its power and the possibilities it holds to reshape our energy systems, decarbonize our economies and boost jobs and growth.

The government of India has appointed Pankaj Agrawal as the new Power Secretary. He would replace present Secretary Alok Kumar, who will retire on June 30.
While Rajat Mishra will be the new Fertiliser Secretary, and Chanchal Kumar to join the Civil Aviation Ministry as Secretary.
Sudhansh Pant will move from the Ports, Shipping and Waterways Ministry to Health Ministry.
Subhas Chandra Lal Das will move to the Ministry of MSME as Secretary.

A novelist, Cormac McCarthy passed away at 89 in the USA. “All the Pretty Horses,” “The Road” and “No Country for Old Men” were among his acclaimed books that explore a bleak world of violence and outsiders.
He was awarded the National Book Award in 1992 for his novel ‘All the Pretty Horses’.
He also won a Pulitzer Prize in 2007 for ‘The Road’.

Odisha is celebrating the Raja festival, an agricultural festival on June 14, 2023.
The first day is called ‘Sajabaja’, which means preparations, while the second is observed as Pahili Raja.
The third day is observed as ‘Majhi Raja’ or ‘Mithuna Sankranti’ and the fourth day is ‘Bhudaha’ or ‘Sesha Raja’.
The fifth day is called ‘Basumati Snana’.
On this day, ladies give a bath to the grinding stone, considering it as mother earth.

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has successfully launched a pilot study on vehicles using E27 fuel and Ethanol Blended Diesel Fuel.
HPCL has become Indto initiate such a comprehensive research program.
The move aligns with the roadmap for ethanol blending in India by 2025, which aims to promote the adoption of ethanol blending in gasoline.
HPCL successfully launched E20 fuel on February 6th, 2023, at 23 retail outlets (ROs) across the country.

Forbes Global 2000 ranks the largest companies in the world using four metrics: sales, profits, assets, and market value.
Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries climbs 8 spots to 45th rank on Forbes’ Global 2000 list JPMorgan, America’s biggest bank with USD 3.7 trillion in assets, is at the top of the list for the first time since 2011 State Bank of India climbed to 77th spot from 105th in the 2022 ranking.
HDFC Bank is at 128th position (153 in 2022) and ICICI Bank is at 163 (204 in 2022). In all, 55 Indian firms figured on the list.

The fourth Survey Vessel Large (SVL) of the Indian Navy, named ‘Sanshodhak’, was launched at Kattupalli, Chennai.
The launch ceremony was attended by Adhir Arora, Chief Hydrographer to the Government of India, as the chief guest.
About the ‘Sanshodhak’ warship The ship’s name, meaning ‘Researcher’, reflects its primary role as a Survey Vessel.
The SVL ships are designed to replace the existing Sandhayak Class survey ships and are equipped with new-generation hydrographic equipment to collect oceanographic data.
These ships have a length of 110 meters, a width of 16 meters, and a displacement of 3,400 tons.
The hull of the ships is constructed using DMR 249-A steel, an indigenously developed material manufactured by the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL).

Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) launched the Electric Vehicle Operations and Lending for Vibrant Ecosystem (EVOLVE) mission.
The mission has been launched in collaboration with NITI Aayog, World Bank, Korean-World Bank and Korean Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF).
Its main objective is to provide financial assistance to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the electric vehicle sector.
The EVOLVE mission contributes to the promotion of sustainable transportation solutions in India.
EVOLVE Mission Aim: Its primary objective is to provide funds for the purchase of 50,000 Electric Vehicles (EVs).

Researchers from the Department of Physics at IIT-Madras have developed critical components for a highly efficient, cost-effective way to electrolyze seawater to generate hydrogen. The results were published in the journal ACS Applied Energy Materials.
State-of-the-art alkaline water electrolyser technology is energy-intensive, requires an expensive oxide-polymer separator, and uses fresh water for electrolysis. The IIT-Madras team led by Dr Ramaprabhu Sundara has addressed each of these challenges by developing simple, scalable and cost-effective alternatives that are highly efficient in splitting seawater and generating hydrogen.

While announcing the bonanza for Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan awardees of the State, Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal today announced a monthly pension of Rs. 10,000 for the awardees besides a free travel facility in Volvo Buses of the State Government.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has taken a significant step towards strengthening its presence in North East India by opening a sub-office in Kohima, the capital of Nagaland.
With this move, RBI aims to expand its reach in the region and better serve the financial needs of the people.

Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has today announced the second edition of Antarashtriya Yoga Diwas Media Samman.
Under the Antarashtriya Yoga Diwas Media Samman 2023, thirty-three Sammans will be given out under three categories viz Print, Television and Radio in twenty-two Indian languages and English as below
1. 11 Sammans in 22 Indian languages and English – to be conferred under the category “Best Media Coverage in Yoga in Newspaper”
2. 11 Sammans in 22 Indian languages and English – to be conferred under the category “Best Media Coverage in Yoga in Electronic Media (TV)”
3. 11 Sammans in 22 Indian languages and English – to be conferred under the category “Best Media Coverage in Yoga in Electronic Media (Radio)”

Continuing with the commitment towards the ‘Make in India’ initiative the Indian Army has signed the second procurement contract through Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX) on 09 June 2023.
The contract with M/s Astrome Tech Pvt Ltd, Bangalore for procurement of indigenously developed ‘Tactical LAN Radio’ was signed in the presence of Lt Gen MV Suchindra Kumar, the Vice Chief of Army Staff at New Delhi. With this initiative, the Indian Army has taken the lead by signing two contracts under iDEX to date.
A tactical LAN solution is being developed indigenously for creating secure tactical LAN in remote and difficult terrain.
‘Tactical LAN Radio’ is a state-of-the-art high bandwidth backhaul wireless radio equipment for the provisioning of reliable and failsafe communication.

Union Minister of Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Shri Dharmendra Pradhan flagged off Gabon’s first Agri- SEZ project from New Delhi
The project will be implemented by AOM group (a leading company in promoting agricultural development and innovation), with Centurion University (a state university in Odisha) as the technical and knowledge partner
In the first phase of the program, 30 farmers and 20 B.Sc./M.Sc. Agriculture and B.Tech/M. Tech Engineering students from the Gajapati district, which is an Aspirational district of Odisha, will be travelling together as agri-technical and technical consultants for the agriculture SEZ (Special Economic Zone).

of debt instruments, including capital instruments in FY24.
▪ The board’s approval is for raising funds in the Indian rupee and/or any other convertible
currency by issue of debt instruments, including but not limited to Long Term Bonds,
Basel III-compliant Additional Tier 1 Bonds, Basel III-compliant Tier 2 Bonds.

▪ The resources will be raised through private placement mode to Indian and/or overseas
investors during FY24, subject to the government’s approval wherever required.
▪ SBI had raised funds aggregating about ₹38,850 crore through the issuance of infrastructure
bonds, Tier-2 bonds and AT-1 bonds in FY23.
