Justice Mamidanna Satya Ratna Sri Ramachandra Rao has officially become the 28th Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court.
In a ceremony held at the Raj Bhawan, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla administered the oath of office to Justice Rao. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu was also present at the event.
The proceedings of the oath ceremony were conducted by Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, who read out the Warrant of Appointment issued by the President of India in both Hindi and English languages.

June 1 was chosen as the date because many countries were already celebrating a milk day during that time of year.
The Day provides an opportunity to focus attention on milk and raise awareness of dairy’s part in healthy diets, responsible food production, and supporting livelihoods and communities.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced that the Bandra – Versova sea route in Mumbai will be named Swatantra Veer Savarkar Bandra- Versova Sagari Setu.
He was speaking at an event on the 140th birth anniversary of Swatantra Veer Vinayak Damodar Savarkar in Mumbai on 28TH May. A new award “The SwatantraVeer Savarkar Shaurya Puraskar” will be given for incredible brave deeds in the state.

The Maharashtra government has approved a new financial scheme under which Rs 6,000 will be paid annually to over one crore farmers in the state.
On May 30, the ‘Namo Shetkari Mahasanman Yojana’ was approved in a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in Mumbai.
The Central Government’s PM Kisan Yojana already offers financial assistance of Rs 6,000 annually to farmers across the country. With the introduction of the state-level scheme, Maharashtra farmers will now receive a combined total of Rs 12,000 per year.
The Maharashtra cabinet also approved the implementation of the ‘Gender Inclusive Tourism Policy’ named’ Aai’to empower women in the tourism sector.

Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Telangana emerged as the top performers among the ‘larger states’ in the NITI Aayog’s annual ‘health index’ for the Covid year of 2020-21.
NITI Aayog’s Annual Health Index: In 2017, the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog) in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and the World Bank initiated an annual Health Index for tracking Overall Performance and Incremental Performance across all states and Union Territories (UTs).

Based on Overall Performance: Larger States: Among the 19 ‘larger states’, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Telangana have occupied first, second and third place respectively, in terms of overall performance.
Bihar (19th), Uttar Pradesh (18th) and Madhya Pradesh (17th) are at the bottom of the list.
Smaller States: Among the eight smaller states, Tripura has recorded the best overall performance, followed by Sikkim and Goa; Arunachal Pradesh (6th), Nagaland (7th) and Manipur (8th) are at the bottom.
Union Territories(UT): Among the eight UTs, Lakshadweep has been ranked as the top performer in terms of overall performance, while Delhi ranked at the bottom.

An Amendment Agreement to extend the tenure of a USD 1 billion Credit Facility was signed in Sri Lanka on Tuesday. The agreement marks an important step in continuing the financial support provided by the Indian side to the Sri Lankan government for the procurement of essential items.

The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Sri Lanka’s state minister of finance, Shehan Semasinghe, along with senior officials from the Ministry of Finance of Sri Lanka and representatives from the High Commission of India in Colombo.

Union government has extended the Atal Bhujal Yojana (Atal Jal) for two more years until December 2025.
Initially launched in 2019, Atal Jal is active across 8,220 water-stressed Gram Panchayats within 80 districts of seven Indian states, including Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh.
Atal Jal plans to bring 450,000 hectares of irrigated area under efficient water techniques like drip irrigation and crop diversification.
Atal Bhujal Yojana is a groundwater management scheme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the 95th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, on 25 December 2019.
The purpose of the scheme is to improve groundwater management in seven states of India. It has been launched under the Jal Jeevan Mission of the government.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has launched its 2023-27 country partnership strategy for India.
Aim: To identify accelerating structural transformation and job creation, promoting climate-resilient growth, and deepening social and economic inclusiveness as key focus areas ADB highlighted that India has quickly rebounded from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, with economic growth projected at 6.4% in FY24 India ranks among the fastest-growing major global economies.

Microsoft has unveiled a new generative AI-driven chatbot called ‘Jugalbandi’, designed for farmers and other users living in rural India.
Developed in collaboration with AI4Bharat and IIT Madras, Jugalbandi aims to provide personalized assistance by understanding user queries in multiple languages, whether spoken or typed.
The chatbot will operate over the WhatsApp messaging service and it aims to make information on government schemes accessible in multiple languages.
Jugalbandi covers 10 of India’s 22 official languages.

France has banned domestic flights on short routes that can be covered by train in less than two-and-a-half hours — a move aimed at reducing airline emissions.
By doing so, the country plans to reduce its emissions by 40 per cent in 2030.

On June 1, 2023, South Africa, led by Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Dr Naledi Pandor, will host the BRICS meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and International Relations at Cape Town.

Pandor, as chairman of the BRICS Ministerial Meeting, will continue his policy of inclusive engagement by inviting 15 foreign ministers from Africa and the global south to the Friends of BRICS meeting to be held on 2nd and 3rd June 2023.

YES Bank on 31st May unveiled its new logo as part of its “refreshed brand identity”, and expects to roll it out across its branch network over the next three months, MD and CEO Prashant Kumar said.

Since the launch of Prime Minister Jan Dhan Yojana, Telangana State has achieved 100 per cent household coverage of banking services extending them to all sections of people.

As per the Social Security Administration survey, the state has achieved 100 per cent coverage and the benefits of 135 welfare schemes and programmes under 20 departments are credited to these zero-balance bank accounts of the beneficiaries.
