India took over the chairmanship from China, which was the chairman of the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center for 2023-24.
Rajendra Singh, Head of the Department of National Disaster Management Authority, representing the government of India, assumed the chairmanship of the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center.

BIMSTEC was established in 1997 as a regional group to promote cooperation among the littoral states of the Bay of Bengal regions.

India and the United States of America have signed a Cultural Property Agreement to stop the illegal trade in Indian antiquities in the United States of America (USA).
The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the 46th session of the World Heritage Committee of the United Nations Cultural and Educational Organizations (UNESCO) in New Delhi.
The Agreement will help bring back smuggled Indian artifacts impounded by the American Customs.
Since 1976, India has repatriated 358 antiquities, of which 345 have been retrieved since 2014.

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is observing its Raising Day on 27 July 2024.
It was on this day the central government’s largest paramilitary force, CRPF was raised as Crown Representative Police in 1939 by the British rulers of India.
CRPF is the largest CAPF and is dedicated to the task of internal security.
CRPF was made a force of the government of India under the Home Ministry.
CRPF was the first CAPF in the country to raise a Mahila Battalion in 1986. At present, it has 6 mahila battalions.
In 2008, CRPF raised a specialized force, Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA), to tackle the naxals or left-wing extremist challenge in the country.

On the 55th Foundation Day of REC Limited, Union Minister Manohar Lal inaugurated the new National Feeder Monitoring System (NFMS) Control Centre at REC’s headquarters in Gurugram.
The NFMS is a significant initiative by the Ministry of Power designed to offer real-time updates on power supply, outages, and the status of around 2.5 lakh 11 KV feeders throughout India.

The Union Minister of Coal and Mines, G. Kishan Reddy, has inaugurated the Vriksharopan Abhiyan 2024 in Dhanbad.
This is a part of the visionary campaign of “Ek PedMaa Ke Naam” by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
This event was held simultaneously in about 300 locations of 47 districts in 11 coal/lignite-bearing states.
In the last five years, Coal/Lignite PSUs have planted a total of 24 million saplings on a land of 10,942 hectares to make the environment green.
The PSUs are committed to planting a cover of 15,350 hectares of green cover under the coalfields in the next five years.
The target for the current fiscal year is 2,600 hectares.

To boost all-weather connectivity and strategic movement in Ladakh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated the Shinkun La Tunnel project on the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas. This tunnel, which will be the highest in the world, started with its first blast.
The Shinkun La Tunnel Project consists of a 4.1 kilometre-long twin-tube tunnel, which will be constructed at around 15,800 feet on Nimu-Padum-Darcha road, to provide all-weather connectivity to Leh.
The tunnel will serve as a vital link, connecting the Lahaul Valley in Himachal Pradesh with the Zanskar Valley in Ladakh.
It is being undertaken by the Border Roads Organisation at the cost of Rs 1,681 crore.
PM-led cabinet committee approved the project in February last year.
