Former Olympic pole vault champion Thiago Braz has been suspended after testing positive for doping, track and field authorities said Friday.
The Athletics Integrity Unit said Braz was notified of an allegation he tested positive for ostarine.
Braz won a surprising gold medal at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics with a jump of 6.03 meters which still stands as the Olympic record.
The 29-year-old Braz took bronze at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. He competed in two Diamond League meets in Europe this month ahead of next month’s world championships in Budapest, Hungary.

International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach formally invited 203 countries, but not Russia and Belarus, to participate in the Paris Olympics which begin in a year.
The IOC has however left the door open for Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete as neutrals in the 2024 Summer Games without their teams competing.

Rajya Sabha Chairperson and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar made a significant move by nominating four women members to the panel of Vice-Chairpersons. On the anniversary of the “Quit India Movement” on 9 August, the government will launch a 21-day campaign — “Meri Maati, Mera Desh” — as a culminating event of the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”, in which soil collected from different parts of the country in August will be used to develop a garden along the Kartavya Path in Delhi.
