India emerged as the top country in the 34th International Biology Olympiad (IBO) by securing the highest number of medals.

The Maharashtra Prisons Department has launched a “video call” facility for foreign nationals lodged in different jails across the state.
According to the order, foreign nationals including convicts and undertrials lodged in different jails of the state would be allowed to make video calls (to their family members and lawyers) for 15 minutes in two weeks, through the ‘E-prison’ system developed by the central government.
The video call facility, however, will not be available to Pakistani and Bangladeshi nationals, along with those facing terrorist charges.

Odisha state cabinet approved a proposal to recommend the inclusion of the Kui language in the eighth schedule of the Constitution of India.
Aim: Help in the preservation, promotion, and propagation of the language and culture Kui Language: Kui is a South-Eastern Dravidian language spoken by the Kandha community.
It is primarily spoken in the state of Odisha.
Kui is traditionally written using the Odia script, which is also used for writing the Odia language.
The 22 languages now included in the eighth section of the Constitution are, Manipuri, Maithili, Kashmiri, Hindi, Kannada, Gujarati, Konkani, Malayalam, Assamese, Marathi, Nepali, Bengali, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Sindhi, Telugu, Tamil, Odia, Urdu, Bodo, Dogri, and Santhali.

The 50th meeting of the GST Council concluded on Tuesday with the goods and services tax rate trimmed down to 5% in four items.

The meeting organized by the United Kingdom, will see global leaders discussing the potential threats of artificial intelligence (AI) to international peace and security.
This meeting has been presented as a centerpiece of the UK’s presidency of the council.

Peru declared a nationwide emergency as Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS), a rare neurological disorder, surged in the country. A 90-day health emergency has been imposed in the country to curb the outbreak.

So far a total of 182 cases have been reported, of which 147 have been discharged, four people died, and 31 remain hospitalized.
The country declares a health emergency at the request of Health Minister César Vásquez, who noted that an increase in the number of cases could mean a lack of immunoglobulin (antibodies).
What is Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS)?
Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) is a rare autoimmune disease-causing neurological disorder, where the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks the peripheral nerves.
The attack is leading to the symptoms such as muscle weakness, numbness, and tingling, that start with the legs and spread upwards, and in extreme cases, it can also lead to paralysis of the whole body.
