Allahabad University (AU) will be offering PhD courses in three foreign languages on its campus for the first time.
Following the University Grants Commission (UGC)’s permission for PhDs to be supervised by teachers even during the probationary period of their appointment, the university has now prepared a framework for conducting PhD in three languages—French, Russian and German.

The University of Allahabad is a collegiate central university located in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, India.
It was established on 23 September 1887 by an act of Parliament and is recognised as an Institute of National Importance.

Latvia’s long-serving foreign minister, known for his tough line on neighbouring Russia and strong support for Ukraine, was sworn in on Saturday as the Baltic nation’s president for a four-year term.
Edgars Rinkevics, who had served as Latvia’s top diplomat since 2011, took the oath of office in ceremonies at an extraordinary session of the Parliament, or Saeima, in the capital, Riga. He succeeds Egils Levits, who didn’t seek reelection.
In late May, Rinkevics, 49, was elected by lawmakers in a race against two other candidates. He ran as the candidate of his and Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins’ New Unity party.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday inaugurated the regional office of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in Kuala Lumpur to facilitate close defence industrial collaboration between India and Malaysia, officials said.

Bangladesh and India on Tuesday launched a much-anticipated trade transaction in rupees, a move aimed at reducing dependence on the US dollar and strengthening regional currency and trade.

LARSEN & TOUBRO (L&T) on Monday said it has signed a Teaming Agreement with Spain-based Navantia to participate in the Navy’s P75 (India) submarine project and will submit a techno-commercial bid for it.
The Navy is looking to procure six advanced diesel-electric submarines under Project 75 (I) for its dwindling submarine fleet.
The Navy’s Project 75 (I) requires the Indian bidder to tie up with a foreign collaborator and execute the programme for delivery of six conventional submarines equipped with Air-Independent Propulsion while achieving targeted Indigenous Content.
This would also be followed by a 30-year life-cycle sustenance contract of similar value.
