The Taiwanese government will establish a Taipei Economic and Cultural Center (TECC) in Mumbai as part of a broader aim to further deepen cooperation with India.
At present, Taiwan has TECCs in Delhi and Chennai. Taiwan’s decision to set up the TECC in India’s financial capital came at a time when leading Taiwanese companies are increasingly looking at relocating their production bases from China to India.
India is keen on having production facilities of leading Taiwanese chip producers, including Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (TSMC), the world’s largest chipmaker whose clients included Apple.

The Haryana government decided to allow all restaurants across the state to remain open 24×7. There will be no restriction on them to close at night. The decision was announced by Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala.
No one can force them to shut down, but they will have to register with the Labour Department and follow other terms and conditions.

Nand Lal Sharma, who was earlier serving as chairman and managing director of SJVN, took charge as chairman of the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB).

Sharma has held multiple leadership roles, including chairman of SJVN Arun-3 Power Development Company in Nepal, SJVN Thermal Private Limited in Bihar, and SJVN Green Energy Limited.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Union Minister of State for Communications Devusinh Chauhan, on July 8, launched the Antyodaya Shram Suraksha Accident Insurance Scheme from Nadia of Kheda district in Gujarat.

The scheme, launched on a pilot basis, is being implemented through the Indian Postal Department, the Indian Post Payments Bank, and the Ministry of Labour and Employment. It is important to note here that Gujarat became the first state in India to launch a scheme for the welfare of laborers.
Antyodaya Shramik Suraksha Yojana’s objective is to prioritize the welfare and safety of our Shram Yogis so that they can get financial security in case of an accident. We aim to remember the contribution and dedication of the laborers in India’s development and provide them with necessary social security.”

Rutgers University’s women’s basketball team announced Friday that Two-time Olympic champion and three-time Women’s NBA All-Star guard Nikki McCray-Penson has died at age 51.

McCray-Penson, who had been serving as an assistant coach at Rutgers, was a member of the 1996 and 2000 US Olympic women’s basketball gold medal teams.
McCray-Penson had been a head coach at Old Dominion and Mississippi State before joining the Rutgers staff.

Before that she was an assistant at South Carolina under Olympic teammate Dawn Staley, helping the school win the 2017 NCAA national championship.

The 33rd Conference of the State Finance Secretaries was held in Mumbai on July 6, 2023.
The theme of the Conference was ‘Debt Sustainability: States’ Perspective’ and was attended by the Finance Secretaries of 23 States and one Union Territory and officials from the Ministry of Finance, Government of India, Controller General of Accounts and the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.
Governor, Reserve Bank of India inaugurated the Conference.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated wildlife-friendly highway projects in Chhattisgarh. PM Modi inaugurated the construction of three National Highway projects for the Chhattisgarh section of the 6-lane greenfield Raipur-Vishakhapatnam corridor.
This project will pass through the Udanti Wildlife Sanctuary area.
A notable aspect of these projects is the inclusion of a 2.8 km long, 6-lane tunnel equipped with 27 animal passes and 17 monkey canopies in the Udanti Wildlife Sanctuary area.

To promote the use of nano fertilizers across the country, IFFCO will procure 2,500 agri-drones and train 5,000-odd rural entrepreneurs as part of its national campaign launched in July 2023.
Already, IFFCO has signed an agreement for the procurement of drones, to be used for spraying its products Nano urea and Nano di-ammonium phosphate (DAP), in a phased manner.
IFFCO will also procure 2,500 electric three-wheelers (loader type) to carry the drone to farmers’ fields, Nano fertilizers, and associated utilities.
It is expected that one agri-drone would be able to cover 20 acres per day for spraying IFFCO Nano fertilizers.

According to the Word Hindu Foundation, the third ‘World Hindu Congress’ (WHC) 2023 will be organized in Bangkok in November.

The three-day Vishwa Hindu Sammelan will be organized by the Vishwa Hindu Foundation from November 24 at the Convention Center in Bangkok.

The World Hindu Congress is being organized by the World Hindu Foundation. Its trustee is Swami Vigyananand.
Swami Vigyanananda is the Managing Trustee of the Vishwa Hindu Foundation as well as the Joint General Secretary of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP).

The first World Hindu Congress was held in Delhi in 2014 and the second in 2018 in Chicago, USA.

The state government of Gujarat has taken a significant step towards improving healthcare access for its citizens by doubling the insurance coverage under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY).
Starting from the 11th of July, beneficiaries of PMJAY in Gujarat will now receive an insurance cover of Rs 10 lakhs, a twofold rise from the previous coverage of Rs 5 lakhs.
This decision by the state government aims to benefit approximately 1.78 crore Ayushman Bharat card holders in Gujarat, enhancing their access to quality medical treatment.

WMO has released its first Ozone and UV Bulletin to monitor and understand changes in the ozone layer.
According to the information given by WMO, with the help of the Montreal Protocol and amendments made from time to time, the use of substances that damage the ozone layer has been limited by 99 percent.
The Montreal Protocol is an international treaty on the prevention of substances that deplete the ozone layer.
It is designed to protect the ozone layer by phasing out emissions of substances known to be responsible for depleting the ozone layer.
International Initiative for the Protection of the Ozone Layer:

The 1985 Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer provided a framework for international cooperation on ozone protection.
The Montreal Protocol adopted in 1987 is a worldwide agreement to stop the production of ozone-depleting substances.
The Montreal Protocol has been signed by 197 parties around the world.

On the invitation of the Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan, the Election Commissioner of India, Dr Anup Chandra Pandey is leading a three-member delegation to Uzbekistan to observe the conduct of early Presidential elections to be held on 9th July 2023.
Four candidates including the incumbent President are in the fray.
This election is being held under the framework of a new constitution which was adopted in Uzbekistan after the recent Referendum held in April this year and is being keenly watched by the international community.

India has joined the Champions Group of the Global Crisis Response Group (GCRG), accepting an invitation from United Nations Secretary-General (UNSG) António Guterres to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Global Crisis Response Group (GCRG) was set up by the UNSG in March 2022 to address urgent and critical global issues about interlinked crises in food security, energy, and finance and to coordinate a global response. The GCRG is overseen by the Champions Group comprising HOS/ HOGs of Bangladesh, Barbados, Denmark, Germany, Indonesia and Senegal.

The decision to join the Group reflects India’s increasing global leadership and commitment to addressing contemporary global challenges. India’s participation will further boost the efforts of the United Nations in finding result-oriented solutions to developmental issues that impact the world, particularly developing countries.
