The Akshar river cruise floating restaurant, a joint venture between Akshar Travels, the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC), and the Sabarmati Riverfront Development Corporation, was virtually inaugurated today in Ahmedabad by Union Home Affairs and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah.
A 162-passenger cruise with a meal will take the passengers on a journey that lasts one and a half hours. A floating restaurant’s sprinkler system includes a lifeboat, life jackets, and other safety features.

International Plastic Bag Free Day is celebrated on July 3 every year. The initiative was started by the Bag Free World campaign, a global movement aiming to reduce the use of single-use plastic bags that inspired other parts of the world to participate in Plastic Bag Free Day.

In 2023, Hurun Research found 147 (122 in 2022) Indian future Unicorns from 25 cities and they were set up on average in 2015. iii. The total number of Unicorns in India in 2023 is 83, and there were 51 gazelles, and 96 cheetahs, as against 84 unicorns, 51 gazelles, and 71 cheetahs in the 2022 index.

Hurun Research found 147 Indian future Unicorns from 25 cities. On average, they were set up in 2015, with the vast majority selling software and services, with only 20% selling physical products. 37% are selling to businesses, while 63% are consumer-facing.
Future Unicorns were seen disrupting financial services, healthcare, business management solutions and education.

HDFC Bank shares gained over 2% and touched a new 52-week high on Monday following the merger of HDFC Bank and Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC), which came into effect on Saturday, July 1.
The largest private lender in India has emerged owing to the merger. HDFC Bank is currently ranked fourth in terms of equity market capitalization.
HDFC Bank’s share price opened at ₹1714.90 apiece on BSE.

The “Trophy Tour” of the 132nd edition of Durand Cup, India’s oldest football tournament, was flagged off on 30 June 2023 at a function held at Manekshaw Centre, Delhi Cantt.

It was flagged off by Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pandey, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhary and President of All India Football Federation (AIFF) Kalyan Choubey.
This tournament will be organized from 03 August to 03 September 2023 in Kolkata.

24 teams including teams from Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh will participate in the 132nd edition of the tournament.
Foreign teams are participating in the tournament after a gap of 27 years. The tournament is open to all club teams.

Chemical Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya has said that the country is aiming to manufacture 44 crore bottles of Nano Urea annually by the year 2025.
He highlighted the merits of Nano Urea saying that the urea absorption rate by crops is 80% in the case of Nano Urea whereas the traditional urea absorption rate is only 30%.
Nano Urea is cost-effective and demonstrated an increase in crop yield. America and several other countries have evinced interest in Nano Urea.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has launched the ‘Jagananna Amma Vodi’ scheme for the fourth year.
Under this financial assistance of Rs 6,393 crore will be deposited into the bank accounts of 43 lakh beneficiaries.
Under the Amma Vodi scheme, eligible mothers who send their children to schools will receive Rs 15,000 in financial aid to meet their educational expenses.

• New Zealand became the first country in the world to ban thin plastic bags at supermarkets on July 1, 2023.
• The ban applies to single-use plastic bags that are less than 70 microns thick.

Young spin bowler Shreyanka Patil has made history by becoming the first Indian cricketer to be signed for the Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL). Interestingly, Patil is also the first Indian player to be offered a contract in an overseas league before making her international debut.

Senegal Has Become The Fourth Country To Sign The JET-P Deal.
Just Energy Transition Partnership (JET-P) is a mechanism for multilateral financing by developed countries to support an energy transition in developing countries.
It aims to reduce emissions in the energy sector and accelerate the coal phase-out.
Transition describes the gradual movement towards lower carbon technologies, while ‘Just’ qualifies that this transition will not negatively impact society, jobs and livelihoods.
It was launched at the COP26 in Glasgow with the support of the United Kingdom (UK), the United States (US), France, Germany, and the European Union (EU).
Senegal has become the fourth country after South Africa, Indonesia and Vietnam to sign the JET-P deal, with the International Partners Group comprising France, Germany, the European Union, the United Kingdom and Canada.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposals of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) for the appointments of these IPS officers in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Ajay Bhatnagar (IPS) has been appointed as Special Director in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Bhatnagar is a 1989-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Jharkhand cadre.
He is currently serving as Additional Director in the Central Govt investigating agency. According to a DoPT order, he has been appointed to the post till the date of his superannuation on November 20, 2024.

President Droupadi Murmu will be visiting Hyderabad on July 4 to participate in the 125th birth anniversary celebrations of legendary freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju.
Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari presided over a high-level coordination meeting and reviewed the arrangements to be made in connection with the visit of the President.
Born on July 4, 1897, Alluri Sitarama Raju is remembered for his fight against the British, to safeguard the interests of the tribal communities in the Eastern Ghats region (in Andhra Pradesh).
He had led the Rampa rebellion, which was launched in 1922. He is referred to as ‘Manyam Veerudu’ (Hero of the Jungles) by the local people.

World UFO Day is celebrated every year on July 2 to raise awareness about Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) and aims to promote their existence.
The day was first observed in 2001 by a Turkish UFO researcher Haktan Akdogan.
Some people used to celebrate the day on June 24 since aviator Kenneth Arnold had said that nine unusual objects flew over Washington in the early 1990s on that day.
However, to avoid conflicts with other UFO-related events, the date was later officially changed to July 2.
