Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court Justice M.V. Muralidaran has administered the oath of office and secrecy to the new Governor Anusuiya Uikey.

Ms. Uikey who had been the Governor of Chhattisgarh is the 19 th Governor of Manipur. La. Ganesan who had been the Governor of Manipur was appointed the new Governor of Nagaland.

She arrived at Imphal on Tuesday. The Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren, all Ministers and top civil and police officials called on her to give a rousing welcome.

The Kerala government on Friday launched robotic scavenger, Bandicoot, to clean sewages in this temple town, becoming the first state in the country to use robotic technology to clean all its commissioned manholes.

Water Resources Minister, Roshi Augustine, launched Bandicoot under the Guruvayur Sewerage Project in Thrissur district by the Kerala Water Authority (KWA), as part of the 100-day action plan of the state government.

For the first time, Himachal Pradesh (HP) has begun the commercial cultivation of liquorice (Mulethi) with the
distribution of planting material among the farmers by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)- Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (IHBT).

Dr Sanjay Kumar, director of the institute informed on Monday that planting material of “Mulethi” (Glycyrrhiza glabra) was
distributed to the farmers for commercial cultivation in the state for the first time.

Global anti-money laundering watchdog the Financial Action Task Force said on Friday it has suspended Russia’s membership over Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine.

The FATF sets standards for more than 200 countries and jurisdictions and seeks to help authorities tackle serious crime including drug smuggling, human trafficking and terrorism.

About Financial Action Task Force (FATF):

FATF is an inter-governmental policy-making and standard-setting body dedicated to combating money laundering and terrorist financing.
Objective: To establish international standards, and to develop and promote policies, both at national and international levels, to combat money laundering and the financing of terrorism.
It was established in 1989 during the G7 Summit in Paris to develop policies against money laundering.
In 2001 its mandate expanded to include terrorism financing.
Headquarters: Paris, France.
FATF members include 39 countries, including the United States, India, China, Saudi Arabia, Britain, Germany, France, and the EU as such.
India became a member of FATF in 2010.

NSE’s index services subsidiary, NSE Indices Limited, on February 24 launched India’s first-ever Municipal Bond Index,
Nifty India Municipal Bond Index at a SEBI workshop on Municipal Debt Securities in Bengaluru.

The Nifty India Municipal Bond Index tracks the performance of municipal bonds issued by Indian municipal corporations across maturities and having investment-grade credit rating.

The index includes municipal bonds issued as per the Securities Exchange Board of India Issue and Listing of Municipal Debt Securities Regulations, 2015. Presently, the index has 28 municipal bonds issued by 10 issuers all having credit rating in the AA rating category.
The index constituents are assigned weights based on their outstanding amount.

The 3-day Conference is being jointly organized by the International Union of Railways,
Paris and Railway Protection Force.

Delhi government has announced a ban on bike taxis of Ola, Uber, and Rapido with
immediate effect.
▪ The government notice indicates that using personal vehicles as commercial taxis
violates Motor Vehicle Act, 1988.
▪ In violation of the order a fine of Rs 5000 will be charged and if the offense is committed
the second time then a fine of Rs 10000 will be charged as well as imprisonment.

The Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee and Indian Air Force (IAF) have joined hands to develop indigenous defence technologies and equipment through Research and Development.

The two organisations have signed an MoU for the same on February 14 at the Aero India 2023 event in Bengaluru.

The aim is for a self-reliant Indian defence system. The MoU outlines the collaborative effort between IIT Roorkee and IAF to achieve the
government’s ‘Make in India, Make for the World’ vision and create a domestic defence industry.

IAF will also partner with IIT Roorkee, and other agencies designated by the institute.

TATA Group has bagged the title rights for the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023, BCCI secretary Jay Shah announced.

Jay Shah took to Twitter to share the news. He wrote: “I am delighted to announce the #TataGroup as the title sponsor of the inaugural #WPL. With their support, we’re confident that we can take women’s cricket to the next level. @BCCI @BCCIWomen @wplt20.”

The WPL 2023 will begin with a blockbuster clash between Gujarat Giants and Mumbai Indians on March 4 at the DY Patil Stadium.

Lt Gen RS Reen took over as Director General Quality Assurance on February 24, 2023. A 1986-batch officer, Lt Gen Reen is an alumnus of Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. The Officer had completed his BE (Electrical) from National Institute of Technology, Srinagar, Specialisation in Radio Engineering and post-graduation in Communication Engineering from MC EME, Secunderabad.

The name-changing game has elongated its root to Maharashtra. The Ministry of Home Affairs today approved to rename the cities Aurangabad and Osmanabad as Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Dharashiv respectively.

History behind the name of cities Aurangabad and Osmanabad :

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis shared the news on Twitter. Aurangabad derives its name from the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, while Osmanabad was named for a 20th-century ruler of the princely state of Hyderabad. Chhatrapati Sambhaji, the eldest son of warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, was the second ruler of the Maratha state founded by his father.

Sambhaji Maharaj was executed on Aurangzeb’s orders in 1689.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi chaired the meeting of 41st edition of PRAGATI, the ICT based multi-modal platform for Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation, involving Centre and State governments, earlier today.

In the meeting, nine key infrastructure projects were reviewed. Among the nine projects, three projects were from the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, two projects were from the Ministry of Railways and one project each was from Ministry of Power, Ministry of Coal, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.

These nine projects have a cumulative cost of over Rs. 41,500 crores and relate to 13 states viz., Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Arunachal Pradesh.

Mission Amrit Sarovar was also reviewed in the meeting.

Prime Minister advised the Ministries and State Governments to use the PM GatiShakti portal for planning of infrastructure projects. He insisted on expeditious resolution of land acquisition, utility shifting and other issues for timely completion of projects. He emphasised on ensuring proper coordination between central government ministries and state governments.

State-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) has been ranked the world’s top oil and gas exploration and production (E&P) firm by global energy research agency Platts, the company said in a statement here.

ONGC was last year placed at the third position in the pure E&P category, behind Encana of Canada and China’s Cnooc. China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) was ranked second on the list for 2010.
