The Maharashtra government has decided to confer the first ‘Udyog Ratna’ award on veteran industrialist and chairman of Tata Sons, Ratan Tata The award is the state’s highest honour given to eminent individuals, who have led the Maharashtra government to introduce Udyog Ratna Award from this year onward.
The first recipient of this award will be the renowned industrialist, Ratan Tata.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched the book titled ‘Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam: Memories Never Die’ in Rameshwaram in July 2023,
The book is about the history of Indian rocketry, science, technology and innovation, a beautiful representation of Indian politics and administrative system and a description of many incidents related to the wishes and imagination of Dr Kalam.
Amit Shah also paid a visit to Dr APJ Abdul Kalam House and the Mission of Life Gallery Museum.

India will be hosting a World Coffee Conference for the first time, with its fifth edition promoted by the International Coffee Organisation to be held in Bengaluru from September 25 to September 28.
ICO is the primary intergovernmental organisation dedicated to promoting the coffee trade and fostering cooperation among coffee-producing and consuming nations.
Coffee Board of India CEO and Secretary K G Jagadeesha announced that tennis player Rohan Bopanna would be the brand ambassador of the event. ICO is organising the event in collaboration with the Coffee Board of India.

The Hyderabad Half Marathon, organised by NEB Sports, will be held in three different categories — 21.1K (Half Marathon), 10K and 5K.
Besides the Half Marathon, Hyderabad is set to host the prestigious IAU (International Association of Ultrarunners) 50km World Championships 2023 on November 5, which will be held for the first time in the country.

UCO Bank has opened four special rupee vostro accounts with Russian banks so far and has received permission from the Reserve Bank of India for opening eight more accounts. Of these eight, six are with Russian banks and two are with banks in Belarus, said Ashwani Kumar, MD & CEO, of UCO Bank.

Further, it has received interest from four more banks for opening special Rupee Vostro accounts. “We have already opened four special rupee vostro accounts so far and have received RBI permission for opening eight more such accounts, which we will be opening soon.
UCO Bank has registered around 81 per cent growth in net profit at ₹223 crores during the quarter ended June 30, 2023, as against ₹124 crores same period last year on the back of higher core income and lower provisioning.

the Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan, unveiled the logo, slogan – “Jan Jan Sakshar,” and mobile application of the ULLAS: Nav Bharat Saksharta Karyakram.
ULLAS (Understanding Lifelong Learning for All in Society) mobile application was launched, This user-friendly and interactive app is available both on Android and IOS and will serve as a digital gateway for learners to engage in diverse learning resources through the DIKSHA portal of NCERT.

6,23,10,598 loans sanctioned under Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana (PMMY) in FY 2022-23.

The Minister stated that under Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY), collateral-free institutional credit up to Rs. 10 lakh is provided by Member Lending Institutions (MLIs) i.e. Scheduled Commercial Banks (SCBs), Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) and Micro Finance Institutions (MFIs). Any individual, who is otherwise eligible to take a loan and has a business plan for a small business enterprise can avail loan under the Scheme for income-generating activities in the manufacturing, trading, and service sectors and also for activities allied to agriculture across three loan categories, viz. Shishu (loans up to Rs. 50,000/-), Kishore (loans above Rs. 50,000/- and up to Rs. 5 lakh) and Tarun (loans above Rs. 5 lakh and up to Rs. 10 lakh).
The Minister stated that complaints about the implementation of PMMY are redressed in consultation with the respective Banks. The complaints received at the Centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS) are also being taken up with respective Banks for redressal within the prescribed timeline.

Veteran Congress leader and former Kerala Speaker Vakkom Purushothaman, who also served as Governor of Mizoram, passed away at a private hospital. He was 96.
Purushothaman entered politics as a Students’ Congress activist in 1946 and rose to become a state minister, Assembly Speaker, Governor of Mizoram and also Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands during his career spanning nearly seven decades.
In addition to that, his list of accomplishments includes being the Speaker of the Kerala Assembly twice—a record in itself—two times as an MP from Alappuzha and five times as an MLA from the Attingal assembly constituency.

The Indian flag continues to soar high as the Indian contingent finished their Sri Lanka Athletics National Championships with 14 medals. This includes nine gold, four silvers and a bronze.

Muslim Women’s Rights Day is observed every year on the 01st of August to celebrate the enforcement of the law against the ‘Triple Talaq’ rule among Muslims.
According to the Shariat or Muslim Personal Law, Muslim men were given the privilege to end their marriage anytime by uttering the word Talaq three times in a row.
The first time it was observed was on 1 August 2020.

National Mountain Climbing Day is celebrated on August 1st every year by the enthusiastic citizens of the United States. This special day commemorates the remarkable achievement of Bobby Matthews and Josh Madigan, who accomplished the extraordinary feat of climbing all 46 peaks of the Adirondack Mountains in New York. Their journey culminated with the successful ascent of the last peak, Whiteface Mountain, on August 1, 2015.

Amazon India has inaugurated its first-ever floating store on Dal Lake in Srinagar, Kashmir. This initiative aligns with Amazon India’s commitment to providing customers with reliable and convenient delivery services, while simultaneously enabling small businesses to seize profitable earning prospects.

The store is part of the company’s ‘I Have Space’ delivery program, which started in 2015. The program helps them deliver packages to customers in faraway places using local shops and partners.

Harsh Vardhan Singh, a 38-year-old Indian-American engineer, has made a groundbreaking announcement, declaring his bid for the White House in the upcoming 2024 US Presidential election. In doing so, he has become the third person of Indian descent, following Nikki Haley and Vivek Ramaswamy, to join the fiercely contested Republican field of candidates vying for the party’s nomination.
In a passionate 3-minute video message shared on Twitter, Singh proudly proclaimed himself a “lifelong Republican” and a staunch “America First” conservative. He highlighted his past efforts in spearheading the restoration of the conservative wing within the New Jersey Republican Party.

The efforts to conserve wildlife in India received a further boost as the International Union for Conservation of Nature Species Survival Commission and the Wildlife Trust of India announced the setting up of the first regional Centre for Species Survival in South Asia.

This is the 10th such Centre in the world and the first of its kind in South Asia. The objective of this Centre will be to provide a platform for conservation practitioners to network and share best practices while contributing to species status assessments using the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
