HISTORY OF WORLD DAY FOR SAFETY AND HEALTH AT WORK

The Reserve Bank of India has given its consent for the reappointment of N Kamakodi as MD and CEO of Tamil Nadu-based City Union Bank (CUB) for a further period of three years. Kamakodi has been serving as MD and CEO of the private sector bank since May 2011. He joined the bank as Deputy General Manager (DGM) in 2003.

City Union Bank Limited is an Indian private-sector bank headquartered in Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu. The bank was initially named Kumbakonam Bank Limited and was incorporated on 31 October 1904. The bank preferred the role of a regional bank in the Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu. In FY2016 the bank had a market capitalization of ₹140.5 billion and operated 700 branches and 1762 ATMs.

Owing to the economic crisis led by political and geopolitical uncertainties, Pakistan has become the largest recipient of the Asian Development Bank (ADB)-funded programs/projects in the year 2022.
According to the ADB Annual Report 2022, released on Monday, out of total disbursement of over $31.8 billion to 40 countries, Pakistan received loans of $5.58 billion, Geo News reported.
It should be noted that out of the total lending of $5.58 billion, Pakistan received concessional funding of $2.67 billion from the bank in last year.

Indian professional mountaineer Arjun Vajpai, roped in as a Fit India Champion earlier this year has become the first Indian man to summit Mt. Annapurna 1, which is also the 10th highest mountain in the world at 8,091 meters (26,545 ft) above sea level in Nepal.
Arjun made the climb to the 7x8000m summits on April 17 and has now become the first Indian mountaineer to scale 7x8000m peaks. Mt. Annapurna happens to be the most dangerous mountain out of the 14x8000m Summit Mountains.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay’s SHUNYA (Sustainable Housing for Urbanizing Nation by its Young Aspirants) team secured second place in Solar Decathlon Build Challenge in the United States for their innovative zero-energy house designed to address air quality challenges in Mumbai’s hot and humid climate.

SHUNYA is a student-driven technical team of IIT Bombay working to build a sustainable future. It was the only team representing India in this competition out of 32 teams from across the world.

The house developed by the team has a 14-kW solar PV Plant with an advanced in-house automation system. The Automation system controls the in-house developed dehumidifier system designed especially for the climatic conditions of coastal regions.

The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) is launching a Cybersecurity Skilling Programme in collaboration with its cybersecurity Technology and Innovation Hub, C3iHub. Interested candidates can apply at the official C3iHub website — c3ihub.org/education/empowerment-program-cybersecurity.
This new course will be launched by IIT Kanpur on April 26, 2023. The program will be taught in Hindi and will be eight weeks (6 hours per week) long and will include live sessions, online assignments, and hands-on exercises. The prerequisite of this program are the basics of computer networks, and operating systems (Linux / Windows). Bash script and Python are optional.

Chandan Ram Dass died at the state’s Bageshwar district Uttrakhand hospital on Wednesday (April 26). The 63-year-old was admitted to the ICU of the district hospital after his health suddenly deteriorated, news agency PTI reported citing an official. Dass, a Bageshwar MLA (member of the legislative assembly), was in charge of social welfare and transportation.
