Ratan Tata has been awarded the highest civil honour in Australia, the Order of Australia (AO).
He has been awarded for his longstanding commitment to Indo-Australian ties specifically in the areas of trade, investment, and philanthropy.
Australia’s High Commissioner to India Barry O’Farrell conferred the honour on Ratan Tata, the titan of biz, industry and philanthropy.

The 1959 Ramon Magsaysay Award was presented to Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama at his residence here by members of the award foundation personally after 64 years.

It was the first international award given to “His Holiness for Community Leadership in recognition of his leadership of the Tibetan community’s gallant struggle in defence of the sacred religion that is the inspiration of their life and culture” by the Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation in the Philippines in August 1959.

The Ramon Magsaysay Award (Filipino: Gawad Ramon Magsaysay) is an annual award established to perpetuate former Philippine President Ramon Magsaysay’s example of integrity in governance, courageous service to the people, and pragmatic idealism within a democratic society. The prize was established in April 1957 by the trustees of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund based in New York City with the concurrence of the Philippine government. It is often called the “Nobel Prize of Asia”

World Intellectual Property Day occurs on April 26 each year.
The World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) established it in 2000.
The holiday aims to increase awareness of patents, copyright, and trademarks. People can gain a deeper understanding of how these laws affect their daily lives.

The National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) has appointed Anant Maheshwari as its Chairperson for the year 2023-24.
Anant Maheshwari is the President & CEO of Microsoft India. In his previous tenure, Mr Maheshwari was the vice president of the NASSCOM.
He replaces Krishnan Ramanujam, who heads business and technology services at Tata Consultancy Services. Apart from this, Rajesh Nambiar, Chairman and MD, of Cognizant India, has been appointed as the Vice Chairperson for 2023-24.

The Board of Directors of the private lender IndusInd Bank has reappointed Sumant Kathpalia as the managing director and chief executive officer (MD & CEO) of IndusInd Bank Limited for a period of two years with effect from 24 March 2023.
Kathpalia was first appointed as the MD & CEO of IndusInd Bank in March 2020.

The fourth meeting of the India-Mozambique Joint Defence Working Group was held in New Delhi on Tuesday. The meeting was co-chaired by Joint Secretary, Ministry of Defence Amitabh Prasad, and Permanent Secretary of Ministry of National Defence of Mozambique, Casimiro Augusto Mueio.

The two sides discussed wide-ranging issues, including military training and courses, exercises, medicine, and capacity building to deepen engagements. The Indian side highlighted the country’s growing capabilities in the field of defense production and discussed ways to further bolster bilateral military ties.

The Border Road Organisation (BRO) of India has put up a signboard saying ‘India’s first village’ in Mana, a village in Uttarakhand.
The Mana village is on the India-China border in Chamoli District. This decision is based on the initiative by PM Modi to declare all border villages in the country as the first villages and not the last as they are usually called.
Mana village is situated near the Himalayan temple, Badrinath. Devotees going to the temple usually go up to the village for sightseeing.

The Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) Uttar Pradesh has been awarded the country’s prestigious HUDCO Award for 2022-2023. It was awarded in the Best Practices to Improve the Living Environment 2022-23 category for cleanliness.
The award was presented by the secretary of MoHUA, Manoj Josh to Neha Sharma (State mission director, UP). Cash Prize: 1 Lakh Rupees.

Veteran actor Mamukkoya passed away after suffering a brain haemorrhage. The 77-year-old had recently been hospitalised after a stroke. Having started his career as a theatre actor, Mamukoya entered Malayalam cinema with Anyarude Bhoomi in 1979. During his multi-decade career, the actor would go on to win a slew of laurels.

The Government of Himachal Pradesh and Oil India Limited (OIL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a framework for cooperation in developing and harnessing new and renewable energy sources (NRES) in the State.

The North East Bankers’ Conclave 2023 will be held in Delhi on April 28 to decide on actionable strategies to address issues at various levels, from policy planning to grass-roots level implementation, officials said on Wednesday.
The Guwahati-based North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Limited (NEDFi), a public financial institution, will organise the conclave at the Constitution Club of India in the national capital with support from the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) and the State Bank of India.
NEDFi CMD P.V.S.L.N. Murty said that the North East Bankers’ Conclave is the first of its kind leadership event specifically organised to brainstorm the challenges faced by the banking sector in the northeast and come up with actionable strategies to address the same at various levels, starting from policy planning up to the grass-roots level implementation.

• A unique artificial intelligence-based machine has been installed at Todsa Ashram School of Etapalli in Maharashtra in a bid to improve the nutrition level of tribal children of Gadchiroli.
• The initiative was taken by the administration under project Bhamragad and there are eight government schools part of it.
• Notably, the machine takes a photo of the student with her/his plate of food and within a few seconds, without any human intervention, identifies whether the quality of the food is good.

Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated the Discovery Campus of the National Technology Center for Ports, Waterways and Coasts at IITM, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
The center was created under the Sagarmala scheme of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways to enable research and development for the maritime sector in India.
The center has world-class capabilities for research and consultancy in all disciplines, including ocean modeling, sediment transport, and port and coastal engineering. For FY 22-23, 37 projects worth Rs 2,500 crore have been approved under the Sagarmala program for the development of ports and developing coastal areas to support India’s economy.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has said that it has canceled the banking license of Kerala-based Adoor Co-operative Urban Bank and has allowed it to function as a non-banking institution. The cancellation of the license is with effect from the close of business on April 24, 2023, according to a notification issued by the RBI.
The central bank said that it has canceled the banking license dated January 3, 1987, granted to The Adoor Co-operative Urban Bank Ltd, Adoor, Kerala to carry on banking business in India under Section 22 read with Section 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, with effect from the close of business on April 24, 2023.
