This day also honors the memory of Dr. Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann — the founder of homeopathy. Samuel Hahnemann was born in 1755 and grew up in Meissen in Germany.
He received his medical degree in Erlangen in 1779. Homoeopathy comes from ‘homeo’ and ‘pathos,’ Greek words.
Homeo means similar and pathos means suffering or disease.

The theme of World Homeopathy Day 2023 is “One Health, One Family,” to promote evidence-based homeopathic therapy for the health and welfare of the entire family through local physicians.

Kerala State Inland Navigation Corporation (KSINC) launched India’s 1st solar-powered hybrid boat, Suryamshu, at Queen’s Terminal, Marine Drive.
The air-conditioned vessel with a 100-passenger capacity has an upper deck and a lower deck that can be used as a conference hall and DJ floor.
The boat was built spending Rs 3.95 crore at a facility in Sri Lanka. As of now, KSINC has plans to introduce two tour packages.

• In a significant development towards sustainable energy, the Indian government has approved the installation of 10 nuclear reactors in the country.
• The nuclear reactors will be installed in four different states, namely, Karnataka, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan.
• Kaiga, Gorakhpur, Chutka, and Mahi Banswara are the respective locations for the installation of the nuclear reactors. Mahi Banswara will have four reactors, while the other three locations will have two each.
• These reactors are planned to be set up in ‘fleet mode’ progressively by the year 2031 for Rs 1,05,000 crores.

Calyampudi Radhakrishna Rao, an Indian-American statistician, has won the 2023 International Prize in Statistics.
This award is regarded as the equivalent of the Nobel Prize in statistics and recognizes individuals or teams who have made significant contributions to science, technology, and human welfare through the use of statistics.
Rao will be honoured with the prize, which carries an $80,000 cash award, at the International Statistical Institute World Statistics Congress in Ottawa, Canada, in July.

Indian men’s singles shuttler Priyanshu Rajawat clinched his first-ever tour title, beating Magnus Johannesen of Denmark in the final of the Orleans Masters 2023 in France on Sunday.
Twenty-one-year-old Priyanshu got the better of the Dane 21-15, 19-21, 21-16 in a thrilling men’s singles final that lasted an hour and eight minutes.
This is the first BWF Super 300 title for Rajawat who was also the youngest team member of the Indian badminton team that won the historic 2022 Thomas Cup in Bangkok, last year.
Priyanshu started the final in a dominating fashion without providing any opportunity for a comeback to Magnus in the first game. The Indian shuttler was leading 11-8 at the halfway stage of the opening game and encashed upon the lead to take the first game.

EAM Dr. S Jaishankar will be on an official visit to Uganda and Mozambique from April 10 to 15.
During the visit to Uganda, Jaishankar is expected to hold delegation-level talks with his counterpart General Jeje Odongo.
EAM Jaishankar will also inaugurate the transit campus of the National Forensic Science University in Jinja. India, Uganda is likely to sign an MoU on setting up the first-ever campus of NFSU outside India.

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi has flagged off the Secunderabad to Tirupati Vande Bharat Express train in Hyderabad.

India has become the first country in the world to develop a country’s level mathematical model to estimate the prevalence of tuberculosis (TB) cases in India.

North Korea recently conducted a nuclear-capable underwater attack drone test to demonstrate its military capabilities.
The underwater nuclear attack drone named “Haeil-2” was tested between April 4 and April 7, in Kajin Port, Kumya Country, South Hamgyong Province.
Haeil-2 is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead. The drone covered an underwater distance of 1000 km (621.37 miles) in 71 hours and 6 minutes.

Varanasi is preparing to host a huge congregation of people from South India for the 12-day Ganga Pushkaralu festival, commencing on April 22.
During this festival, a mega congregation of pilgrims from the Telugu-speaking region of the country will take place on the banks of the Ganga River to worship rivers and their ancestors.
Kashi and Haridwar, witness a turnout of lakhs of people from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana during this festival.

A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket successfully launched from Florida on Friday, carrying a new NASA device that can track air pollution over North America(USA).
The Tropospheric Emissions Monitoring of Pollution (TEMPO) instrument will allow scientists to monitor air pollutants and their emission sources from space more comprehensively than ever before, down to the neighbourhood level.
The data will be used by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and other agencies responsible for tackling atmospheric pollution.

Noted lawyer Dr Poornima Advani, who was former Chairperson of the National Commission for Women (NCW), passed away in a private hospital after a two-year-long battle with cancer, an aide said here on Friday.
She was 63 and breathed her last on April 1 at the Breach Candy Hospital. She is survived by her medico husband Dr Shailesh Hathi and their teenage daughter Poojita.
An academic, legal eagle, author and administrator, Dr Advani served as the 31-year-old NCW’s 4th Chairperson (2002-2005) and was credited with several landmark achievements during her tenure.
