Recognized as the flagship program of the SBI Foundation, the SBI Youth for India Fellowship is a 13-month-long initiative. It empowers the nation’s youth to engage in rural development projects in collaboration with experienced NGOs. The program aims to contribute to India’s equitable and sustainable growth by:
- Providing educated and enthusiastic urban Indian youth with the opportunity to collaborate with rural communities, effecting positive change at the grassroots level in rural India.

SBI Youth for India Fellowship Eligibility Criteria
Here are the eligibility criteria for the SBI Youth for India Fellowship 2024-25:
- Citizenship: Must be an Indian citizen, a citizen of Nepal/Bhutan, or an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI).
- Age: Must be between 21 and 32 years old on the day of program commencement, i.e., born not earlier than 2nd August 1992 and not later than 1st October 2003.
- Education: Must have completed at least a Bachelor’s degree before the commencement of the program, i.e., before 1st October 2024.
Note: OCI candidates are advised to apply for OCI registration if they don’t possess it currently, as the process takes 1-3 months. It’s recommended to initiate the OCI application along with the Fellowship application.
SBI Youth for India Fellowship Application Process
The Application Process for the 2024-25 batch of the SBI Youth for India Fellowship is now open. You can apply for Stage 1 (Registration & Online Assessment) by visiting https://change.youthforindia.org. Our website and social media channels will communicate notifications and updates regarding application status.
The 2-stage Application Process of the Fellowship is outlined as follows:
STAGE-1 (Registration & Online Assessment):
- Fill out the Registration form and commence your Online Assessment.
- During the assessment, provide a detailed essay-based response, sharing your story, perspectives, intention to join the Fellowship and overall worldview.
STAGE-2 (Personal Interview):
- The Personal Interview stage involves evaluation by an esteemed panel to assess personal characteristics and suitability for the role.
- This stage considers factors beyond academic qualifications and work experience to gain a deeper understanding of the applicant.
SBI Youth for India Fellowship Final Selection
Selected candidates from Stage 2 will receive notifications on a rolling basis throughout the application period via email and/or SMS. Upon confirmation, candidates will receive an offer letter detailing the program, Fellowship support, and terms and conditions.
SBI Youth for India Fellowship Onboarding
Once candidates have accepted the offer, the onboarding process will commence. We maintain continuous engagement with selected candidates through an online forum to better understand them and address any queries they may have regarding the Fellowship.
SBI Youth for India Fellowship Support
A monthly allowance of 15000 INR for the duration of the program to meet your living expenses.
A monthly allowance of 1000 INR for the duration of the program to meet your transport expenses.
A monthly allowance of 1000 INR for the duration of the program to meet your project-related expenses.
A dedicated provision for language support will be provided at the location.
A readjustment allowance of 70000 INR upon successful & satisfactory completion of the Fellowship.
The cost of the 3AC train fare from your residence to the project site location as well as expenses incurred on traveling for training programs shall be covered.
A health and personal accident insurance policy will also be provided.
Other Support
The local NGO staff will assist you to find suitable accommodation with safety in mind.
The partner NGO will also arrange for necessary support as and when required.
An SBI Youth for India team member will be available for overall support & guidance.
Mentorship by experienced professionals in the field.
