About BARC
The Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) is India’s premier nuclear research facility, headquartered in Trombay, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. It was founded by Homi Jehangir Bhabha as the Atomic Energy Establishment, Trombay (AEET) in January 1954 as a multidisciplinary research program essential for India’s nuclear program. It operates under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), which is directly overseen by the Prime Minister of India.
BARC is a multi-disciplinary research center with extensive infrastructure for advanced research and development covering the entire spectrum of nuclear science, chemical engineering, material sciences and metallurgy, electronic instrumentation, biology and medicine, supercomputing, high-energy physics, plasma physics, and associated research for Indian nuclear program and related areas.
BARC OCES/DGFS Recruitment 2024
BARC has announced its BARC OCES/DGFS 2024 Recruitment program, offering full-time positions for Scientific Officers/Scientists nationwide. BARC OCES/DGFS Recruitment 2024 Education Qualification
Candidates with an Engineering Degree, M.Sc, M.E., M.Tech, or other academic degrees as specified in the notification are eligible to apply for the recruitment.
Applicants awaiting final results or appearing in the qualifying exam in the academic year 2023-2024, as well as GATE-2024 aspirants, are also welcome to apply.
BARC OCES/DGFS Recruitment 2024 Age Limit
The maximum age limit for candidates is 26 years as of the age recognition date, i.e., 01 August 2024. Special category candidates are eligible for age relaxation as outlined below:
- OBC: 29 years
- SC/ST: 31 years
- Dependents of those who died in the riots of 1984: 31 years
- Domicile of Kashmir Division of Jammu & Kashmir State from 01/01/1980 till 31/12/1989: 31 years.
BARC OCES/DGFS Recruitment 2024 Selection Process
The selection process for BARC OCES / DGFS involves two stages:
I. Screening to Shortlist Candidates:
- Two methods for screening: (a) Online Exam conducted by BARC or (b) GATE-2022, GATE-2023, GATE-2024 scores, or CGPA score of CBS/NISER.
- Candidates can choose either the online exam or use their GATE Score through GATE Entry or CGPA score of CBS/NISER.
- Candidates may opt for both methods, appearing in the Online Exam and using the GATE Score for GATE Entry to enhance their chances.
II. Final Interview of Shortlisted Candidates:
- Only candidates shortlisted through the Online Exam will proceed to the interview stage.
- The final merit list will be based solely on interview marks.
BARC OCES/DGFS Recruitment 2024 Salary
During training, OCES TSOs and DGFS Fellows receive a stipend of ₹55,000 per month, along with a one-time book allowance of ₹18,000 for BARC OCES TSOs & DGFS Fellows. DGFS Fellows are reimbursed for M.Tech. / M.Chem. Engg. tuition fees and receive a one-time Contingency Grant of ₹40,000 for project-related expenses. Boarding and lodging in DAE or DGFS Institute Hostel is mandatory during training.
After permanent appointment in BARC / DAE Units, Scientific Officers (Level 10 post) receive:
- Initial basic pay: ₹56,100
- Additional increments (2-3 for OCES TSOs, 3-4 for DGFS Fellows) based on performance during the Orientation Course.
- Monthly emoluments at joining (with three increments): Approximately ₹1,20,000, including Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, and Transport Allowance at Mumbai rates.
- Additional benefits: Leave Travel Concession by Air, Children’s Education Allowance, and Professional Update Allowance.
BARC OCES/DGFS Recruitment 2024 Application Fee
Candidates need to submit an application fee of Rs. 500/-. However, the following categories are exempted from the application fee:
